I was looking on SummitRacing for some things and came across a 410 rotating assembly made by Eagle for our truck for roughly 1125 bucks.

Seems like a good deal, right? I've got a spare 360 block layin' around...

might wanna call em up and double check that it aint for a LA motor....

if it is for a Magnum, if its forged, that is a good deal, tho i suspect that its a cast crank and off brand pistons.

If it's a stroked 360, the only downside is that would be a .050" over bore - doesn't leave much room for future cleanup.

I didn't think our blocks had enough room for .050" over.

I searched under 2003 Dakota 5.9/360. I'll call to make sure though...

It is a cast crank, but with a 410, I wouldn't plan on running the hit or a blower. I'd be pretty happy with a large cam and good heads. Would probably make gobs of torque at a decent (10:1) compression.

Says it's a .040 bore

My engine is a 409, thats why its so fast:jester: You need to sonic test and find the right block, a little hardblock doesn't hurt either. If/when I build an all-out real race engine its going to be destroked. A small ci motor spinning high rpms is the way I would go. I was just scared to do it on a 360 magnum block. I would love to have something that spun 8000 rpms.

Eh. It just makes a bigger mess when it goes BANG. lol.

just stroke it more. A 4.1 stroke will give you a 418, a 4.125 will give you a 421 and a 4.18 will give you a 426.

4.00" crank, 6.123" rods, and .030" over -20cc pistons are all off the shelf parts. I think this guy is kinda on a budget or that's the idea at least. Those cranks all need Kustom parts to make them run.

Bingo.

The only thing that bugs me about that assembly is the cast crank....

The I beams don't bother you either? I'd worry about them before the crank.

They're forged?

Unless you were running on the ragged edge with a lot of rpms, don't worry about the I beam rods.

5140 forged steel is a lower quality than 4340. May not be much of an upgrade over stock, but they are lighter.

You'll need to add the cost of having the rotating assembly balanced to the price of the kit since it's listed as unbalanced.

You can't even get a cam in your truck in three years. I'd like to see how long this will take.

Haha, that's rough. Chris seems like a good deal but I think you would be better off waiting for good deals to pop up from builds that went unfinished to get better parts if you are on a budget. The .040 overbore is pushing it on some magnum castings.

Probably 7 years.

Maybe by next election?

Haha. Heads are at the machine shop for the heads/cam. I really need to find someone to put the cam in it though.

Then I gotta find someone to SCT it...joy oh joy.

SCT is easy. They already have street and race tunes for the 210x setups. Sean Powell just dyno tuned a truck in VA with your setup. He should nail it on the first tune just about.

Speaking of, there might be a 426 setup popping up in your area soon.

Where is this dude located? Can I drive my truck to him and have him tune it?

mtlcafan79

You don't need to. He just sends you a tuner with the tunes in it already. Dyno it and email him back the AFR curve and he can tweak it if it needs it. You don't need any dyno tuning really though. They have tuned a bunch of 210 cammed trucks and should have a tune on file already for you. A $150/hr dyno tune isn't really needed for yours IMHO. I'm taking mine back to PIE in two weeks to do some N2O passes. Too bad you're not gonna be around.

I'll be around in two weeks. THe only date I'm not available is the 12th, I have a wedding that evening, other than that, I'll be here.

I'm headed down there on the 23rd this month so I guess it's really more a week from now. Only weekend I can do it for a while.

Yeah I won't be around then, my plane lands on the 23rd, and I've got a baseball game that night..
