Before the 2013 Nats, I would like to setup a Group buy, I know a lot of people are going to need things before nats to pass tech, or fix something.

I was thinking Driveshaft loops from Richard (HiPoTech)

What do you guys need, we need to choose something that everyone needs to help make the GB better.

Suggestions? Comments? Ideas?

I'd be in for a loop or two. What's the ET for requirement 13.49 or 13.99? (Or full slick at any speed).

How about some bug bras or new Tires for those traveling :jester:

I have to look at the rules to see what I'm gonna need. I'm hoping to skip the 13s with the new motor.:idunno: It does sound like I may need a loop.:fml:

You need a loop at 13.99 with street tires?

I guess I'm gonna need one, too....

From NRHA Rules (See below)

Only Radials/Slicks running 13.99 or faster. I assume the rule in bold below means street tires are exempt for 13 and slower.

Ok, I plan on running on my street tires, and I will probably be somewhere between 13.0 - 13.99, so I should only need pants and a helmet. (Right?)

I'm planning on buying a X brace from Richard anyway, and I'll get the loop with it, but I don't think that will be done before nats.

Couple problems here Chris...
You quoted an article from Hot Rod magazine in Feb. 2009.
That's not what the rule book says.
Out of date...
And the comment about the NHRA requiring a DOT helmet is just false. Period.

Nope.

From the NHRA rulebook:
General regulations 2:4...

"Driveshaft loop required on all cars running 13.99 (*8.59)[1/8 mile] or quicker AND using slicks; except vehicles running 11.49 (*7.35) seconds or slower equipped with street tires."

Trucks with street tires don't need a loop until 11.48.

The REAL rule book is here:

No shorts, no sandals, no tank tops.
Long pants, shoes, T-shirts fine.
yes... helmet.

Matter of fact, after reading that Hot rod article, there's so much in there that's wrong, you may as well just delete it here and now...
It's only gonna confuse folks.

Looks like it's either going to be an x-brace or driveshaft loop if we decide to do it.

I figured I would have more people wanting the same thing, but it's all over the place. GBs are only successful if we can get mass amount of people to buy one specific item.

Lets all figure out what's going on. I know I spoke with Richard at Hipotek and he said he could handle the work load. So who is in for drive shaft loops? Or do most want the X brace? I have both and will say the X brace and driveshaft loops Richard offers is top notch. The X brace made my CC handle so much better.

ok so I did some research on the hotchkis sways, I was told from Hotchkis that they won't, go through a whole saler like summit or atech. Atech you need to be a dealership in their buy program. Also summit says if you buy 5 they will knock the price to around $535, buy 10 $516, buy 20, about $500. I asked Richard he said hes not really into it, but would like USER to set it up if going with it. Also he says that he is already $30 cheaper than summit. So there you go!

Just so everyone knows, I already contacted Richard before I created this thread. He does not want to deal with the headache of a GB, and I don't blame him. Richard and I agreed that if I setup the GB, get things moving, and just have a list of people ready to buy, he is down with the sickness.

This thread was to gather information regarding items people might be interested in. Most are talking about loops, xbraces, and swaybars.

I will add a poll for those 3 items and see were we sit.

The problem is you'll never get 50 people on board for something as expensive as wheels.

Friggin' R/T
02-12-2013, 11:00 PM
You have to remember though, custom wheels are expensive and those wheels would be considered custom because they have to make up their own renderings, then I'm not sure there will be enough people that want to pay the "custom" price on a wheels that is 1" bigger than what they already have :idunno:

Little update.

Richard and I are finalizing all the details before we make a legit thread. Once all the details are worked out. I will post all the information and the GB will begin.

As of right now, the GB will take place for both Driveshaft loops AND X-Braces.

Once I review all his information, and finalize everything we will be set to start taking orders.

Stay tuned. I will make a new thread for the "official" GB.
