The polishing isn't bad, but the sanding sucks. Polished the fuel rails and breathers and a lil bit on the air filter (just the edges and front, hard to see in the pic, but it looks good, left the sides brushed). Should look good with the polished sheet metal valve covers and a couple other polished bits.

Decided to tackle the fuel cell, and I think it's gonna turn out pretty nice. I'm gonna have to pick up some more sandpaper to do it right.
Here's what it looks like bare:

A little Mother's polish:

Some buffing, no sanding, just wanted to see how well it would shine with just buffing:

Finally, some sanding and then buffing:

Gonna be a lot of work tho, but it'll be worth it, and it gives me something to do while I'm waiting on the headers/exhaust. :D

how do you plan to keep the luster without polishing every two weeks? going to seal it with zoop or something of the like?

Yeah, I figure some Zoop should work. It's not going to see any weather, so it shouldn't be too hard to keep it looking good.

LOL Yup, if the polishing isn't finished when the truck is ready, then I'll have to finish it later :jester:

Dave if you get some of Dwights polish it will honestly make your life easier. If you shoot me the small parts I will do them for you for free. I will get them real close then you can finish them off.

Sure, now ya tell me, after I've already done the small stuff LOL I appreciate the offer tho. Only thing left is the fuel cell. I think I will try Dwights polish tho, since my other can of Mother's had dried up (I haven't had to polish anything for a long time lol).

Jerry at Superior Design made them, he also did the EFI conversion on my Indy intake, he does great work.

I had a set of his rails on my old 4bbl setup, they were great. I like that they're smooth and polish up nicely. And they're cheaper than anyone else's rails, $175 for a regular set of rails.

Exactly what i wanted to hear, I will be ordering a set within the next week or so, but will be using them in the factory configuration using an aeromotive rail adapter, and some new fittings scored from my buddies open wheel modified car.
Also you mind posting pics of the mounts for them? or you can just PM me them so not to clutter your thread.

Right on, they'll look good, and then if you ever need to upgrade to a full return it'll be easy.
Here's how it mounted on the 4bbl setup:

Here's how they mount on the Indy intake, don't think this would work on an M1 tho, at least not without some work:

Hey Dave,
If your ever thinking about getting your intake done. Get Bud's polishing to do it. http://www.budspolishing.com/index.html
I had them do my intake and it cost 99 dollars. I had them smooth it only before they would polish it, Then I had the intake powder coated.
Here a pic after it was smoothed, I've did one my self once for one of my Chevies and it took me weeks in my spare time and didn't come close to this. For 99 dollars it was a no brainer

Here it is now coated and with my home made dominator adapter added
