I would like to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in my '02 R/T and not really sure where the optimum placement would be. All I do know is that I do not want it on the "A" pillar. Any help would be appreciated.

Send a PM to Grady (Qwikkota), he used to have a triple pod under his HVAC Controls on his black truck. But, might I recommend instead of a Mechanical OPG, get an Electric one...should that capillary tube burst or leak, you'll get oil all over the inside of your cab...plus, you most likely won't pass tech with it if you take it to the track.

That's the whole idea of putting a mechanic gauge in, I don't trust the factory electric gauge. All my mechanical gauges are plumbed with AN fittings and braided steel line. I'm sure that all passes tech, even though I don't ever plan on tacking the truck on the track.

Aftermarket electric gauges are just as accurate as mechanical gauges...and a lot safer, too. I wouldn't trust the factory gauge either, but an aftermarket electric gauge is lightyears beyond the factory garbage.

Mechanical gauges should be kept outta the interior...
Go with electric gauges.

no matter how safe you might think your making a mech guage in the interior, it will not pass tech.
like others have said, the elec versions are very acurate. a lot better than the factory crap.

My vacuum, oil pressure, water temp, and tranny temp guages are all mechanical. The only time I was questioned by NHRA Tech was regarding the oil pressure guage. Once tech confirmed the line from the engine to the guage was made of copper, I was passed. They won't pass plastic or nylon tubing at all. Copper or steel tubing is acceptable.
