Hey Kenny, I got the same problem! Right now, that is the ONE item that I think may hold me up for sure. We will probably make it from scratch out of some a/w cores and piping it into the cab where the HVAC unit was. We should talk about it this weekend, maybe get some bulk cores and build em up.

Ken.....
Turbonetics/Spearco is the ones who made the two cores for GSM..... ;-)
You may want to call and talk to a guy named Darrel if he is still there and pick his brain on how to get one....
Let me know how this goes for you if you decide to contact them....

Hi Ken,
There really isn't a "one size fits all" intercooler for our trucks due to the different lay outs and configurations of superchargers and turbochargers.
You can get cores from Precision or Spearco and fab up the inlet and outlet yourself.
I have a precision PT-600 A/W for my turbo (single core),,, good for 600 hp.
TTi fabbed it up to fit my truck.

Spearco/Turbonetics has blueprinted cores to work with vortech/powerdyne/paxton ..... just have to figure out how to order one....those are the cores that GSM was having made....they have a 600hp version and a 1000hp version - 1000hp version requires you move the moisture canister for the AC the 600hp version is a bolt up....

I made this one from a 1200hp core. CBE air/water intercooler/airhat. The blowoff valve is in the upper LH corner and is welded directly to the intercooler. I used studs to mount the throttle body, added long threaded stock and then bolt the airhat/intercooler directly to those. It absolutly makes a positive seal against the throttle body and makes sure that nothing moves at all. The intercooler is heavy though, especially when it's full of water. You can see the front support strut coming from next to the alternator to support the weight and make sure there's no movement.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m275/stirlgirl/DUNER/BlackDogCBE.jpg
I had plans of fabbing up more of them to fit the Vortech and Paxton blower setups - but I haven't had the time. I have two of those cores sitting under one of my workbenches in the garage just waiting to find the time.
I made this intercooler/airhat to work with the Vortech originally - this pic is obviously with the turbo, but the Vortech charge tube/elbow goes to it directly.

It's smaller but was still super effective.

That was another GSM deal, I think only three were made. There's places that already sell the cog pullies for the Paxton, you'd just have to get a custom crank pulley done.

You would have to make your end tanks, and brackets. Bare cores usually come with no end tanks. either way you would have to modify or make your own to fit correctly. Which means big money to pay a tig welder. (hint hint.:D)

so from the right side of the intercooler to the tb is all open space? If so why did you not go with piping insted of all that open space? Im probably not explaining my question very well lol

damn, GSM had some good stuff back in the day. Do you know of anybody that would be able to make the crank pully?
Duner
02-03-2008, 04:51 PM
I thought restricting the airflow back down to a single 3.5" diameter opening, thru a hose and then back out to the 5.25" opening of the TB would be counter productive. This way the intercooler water is still pulling heat out of the TB itself and also the intake manifold. This way there are no restrictions between the turbo and the throttle bores of the TB. When you are driving it normally and park, you can open the hood and the intercooler, TB and top half of the intake manifold is cold.

Might have to build a new intercooler for more air flow. The 4 1/2 thick sytle intercoolers can handle 1500 cfms

The intercoolers are 16" wide x 10" deep x 4.5" thick with 3" inlet/outlets for the air and 3/8" NPT for the water inlet/outlets. The actual cores themselves without the tanks are 9" x 10" x 4.5". They are listed as being capable of cooling 1500 hp worth of boost, but I think they're probably more like 1200 hp. All I know for sure is that they work fantastic at cooling 700 hp worth of air.
$275 = Shipping, and they are heavy. :D

You can see the front support bracket in this picture. It attaches to the side of the accessories mount - just below the right side of the alternator in this pic. And then since the airhat is part of it, the whole thing is bolted to the throttle body with the 4 bolts you see at the top right. The intercooler also comes with mounting bolt bungs that can be welded to the intercooler wherever they need to be.
I'll get a quote for the shipping.

Duner,
Got home from work and did some measuring, Thats a big intercooler!! My outlet from the blower is a lot closer then the Turbo outlet and I have no room for a turn into the Intercooler inlet. I'm not sure if I cut the air boxes off and started over that I could do it. Also running a Shaker makes everything tougher. It looks like a tight fit for that core alone. I only have 10" from the throttle body centerline to the Supercharger outlet. It looks like I'll have to use a smaller core. damm, sorry to waste your time

It is really nice actually, the quality seems to be just as good as a spearco or similar. I cut off the in/outs, welded on 90's to go under the truck, then just welded small aluminum tabs to mount to the rad support.

Call Turbonetic a couple of times and asked if they had the old GSM drawings around. Both times they didn't return my calls. They didn't seem too interested in designing anything for me. Went with Bell Intercoolers. What a great bunch of people to work with. They built me a fantastic Intercooler.
