went to the shadiest, most red-neck, inbred, hill-billy track in Ohio last night, LaRue!

1/4 mile track where "prep" consists of dragging a dry mop over the oil and anti-freeze that's spilled on the track.:jester:

best of the night was a 14.3 ET at 98 MPH

a little slower than I wanted, but considering track prep, I think I've got a few more tenths in it on a good track.

60' times were in the 2.1 range, and my R/Ts were a bit slower than I wanted, truck doesn't react as quickly as I'm used to, or I just don't have enough track time in this truck:jester: I was in the .5 to .7 range on my reactions. turns out I need to leave probably as soon as the yellow starts to come on, not half way through it.

combo for those who don't know: stock long block 360, Hughes whiplash cam (222/228, .544, 106) shorty headers, M1, SCT, bla bla bla. 3.92 gears, and NV3500

Is that "from jack stands to the ground"

Sheesh, you put a hair drier on yours and only make 20hp more than my Y-code?!:finger:

Z-code:nana: W/shorties,slicks,caltracs and a 93 tune. that's it!

That would be DRTC light mod class. You have a cam so that makes you DRTC heavy mod NA class:finger: And you have a 5.9 in a Y code body that makes you a Zposer:jester:

Email said there was another reply, but I don't see it. I'd hope the dyno reads low, 310 rwhp with a turbo seems low

Light mod vs heavy mod, I was unaware of different "DRTC classes". Let me borrow those slicks and cal-tracs, I wanna know what this'll run when it hooks up!! :jester:

I bet mine stops harder than yours though!

Anyway, looking at the slip you posted, 14.2 @ 94 mph. Makes me wonder if I have 13s in it if I get it to hook. I was running 2.1 60' all night, trapping at 98

I'd rather have 310rwhp and run 12.2s than just 20 less HP and fail to break 13s... Just sayin'.

And yes your mph says you have 13s in it if you can get the 60ft down.

05-27-2012, 01:34 AM
You may. I wish you luck. I think I have a 13.xx in mine also.:idunno: Good track, good air who knows. Just one thing. Don't play the Y-code card when you have a Z-code motor. :nono:

Hope not:jester:

I know I'm not the fastest guy here, and will never pretend to be. I'd like to see my rig in the 13s, but at the same time, I told myself I'm not chasing ET with this truck, and that whatever it runs, is what it runs.

By no means do I think I'm the fastest. I just wanna find out what you can do with one of these trucks(more or less) stock. Typer is doing really good.

They say that every 1/10th of a sec you cut off the 60' will equate to double that off your 1/4 mile e.t. So get it down to a 1.8 instead of a 2.1 and you are looking at mid 13's, which makes sense for your MPH.

Huh?
Sheesh, you put a hair drier on yours and only make 20hp more than my Y-code?!:finger: I've put alot of "thing's" on this stock long block don't hate me cause Im a true Z :nana:

Now Now Bryan I'm willing to "share" Jim if your interested

14.30 with a CAM seems slow:idunno:

I bet mine stops harder than yours though!

FYI my truck ran 14.66 STOCK Everything in 2000, on the street I beat a Buddies 5.2 Std Sport with punched cat and 180 stat. He would give me a run but I would pull a fender on him everytime (Stock)
And no hard feeling's here Im just bust'n your shoe's Thomass:D

I'd say your close to Ryan's number's N/A :idunno: Hook that bitch do some rowing and prob hit mid 13's on a good day at the track with slick's:biggthumpup:

Yes I agree that my time is slow. I kind of addressed it in my opening post with the description of the track.

Those 2.1s are on my v700 autocross tires, 335/35/17s. My dads van won't spin a tire on the street, except maybe if you neutral drop it! (I've tried! But I won't give it the N-bomb). But he was spinning his peg leg 3.21 gears all the way through first, netting 3 second 60's!!:jester:

On my best mph and ET, the track was the worst, I got sideways in 2nd and feathered the pedal trying to get the tires to bite. I packed it up after that, the air kept getting better, and the track was getting worse.

For reference, a 4.6l mustang was running 15.4 and new 5.0s were in the 13.7 range. I thought the 4.6s were at least low 14 second cars, and the 5.0s were low 13s:idunno:

BlakDak71

If I remember right the new 5.0s are supposed to run 12.7 off the show room floor. A friend of mine has one and put wrinkle walls on the back and ran a 12.4, and then put a 100 shot on it and ran 11.7 lol.

Sounds like a terrible track though, similar to Lapeer Dragway in my neck of the woods. Track prep? You mean brooming the dust off the track? lol

The mph confirms that. His problem was traction. Crappy 60' times KILL e.t.'s.

Its all about traction fellas. Ive never ran my truck down the strip cause ill feel like a pecker running a 15 sec 1/4 mile. Maybe if i ever have the funding to build it up ill do a stock dyno/1/4 run putting down less than 200hp to the wheels would make me sad lol

Do it!! That's half the addiction. The other half is building it do the times you want/can do. Wanna feel like a "pecker"? Stage on the rear wheels like I did the very first time I went down the track:jester::jerkit:

After i get done with college and get a real job that pays i will probably drop a 340 in it w a carb (I know im going backwards with the carb bla,bla i just love the 340 lol)
