My poor Dakota just doesn't stand a chance! Who would guess a dually with a heavy ass flat bed would be so fast!

Video doesn't work from my laptop. If you haven't hooked up a programmer on the Duramax, or done anything for tuning or increasing performance than it probably just feels faster due to the higher torque the diesel puts out, but I'd be willing to bet that in an actual drag race the Dakota would win.

Point proven, these R/T's are slow in stock trim.

my friend used to think his HD was fast. upgraded turbo, chip, suncoast trans, ect... he would murder cars on the street in 4wd. i even saw him kill a supercharged vette between the lights.

took it to the track and it was a turd. ran a 14s all day. lol.

I've seen many a 12 sec Diesel truck, but most of them got more mod's done to get there then a R/T with a power added.

i can believe it against a stock r/t. diesel's are pretty strong in stock form, with some mods and a tune they can straight up surprise some decent cars out there. i raced a ram 2500 crew cab with a tuned cummins and idk what else, and he got me off the line but i slowly reeled him in on top end and passed him. that was with just a bolt on 360 though, but the fact he kept up as well as he did surprised me, he had to weigh close to 8K lbs or so with that big ass truck, it was a dually too. i've seen other runs at the track as well with some pretty modded diesels and they haul for such a heavy truck.

I womped a fully bolted dmax....gave him the 4wd hit too and beat him by 5-6 cars so here's to the diesels:jerkit:
Taking a 17 sec truck and putting it in the 14's feels fast but in reality is still slow. And not to mention the traction issues that come with all that torque. And before someone mentions the 4wd launch good luck with that. If your start making real power you ifs will NOT hold.

And yes I know they CAN be fast and it's kinda the same with our trucks but due to the fact that there's more diesels out there than our trucks there's also more d bag owners.
Rant over lol

Guy ran a 1980's Dodge Ram Pickup at Atco in Nj for a few years in the 11's with a ladder rack on it. He had a 340 4spd in it from his 1970 Cuda' he was building. He even went mini tub on the thing after being unable to hook night after night.

This guy I was referring to looked like a plumbers truck...In fact, he was a few people ahead of me and the tech guy told him he had to clean out the bed of the truck of the tools and other shit he had back there. Diesels are not something to sleep , with just a tune, they will destroy you

Depends on your definition of nice. But it's nice if your into fords. Personal cummins would be my diesel of choice but you do have a Nice truck.

@srt8durango not at you at diesels. (blah blah blah diesels can be fast blah blah) < just saving your breath there. I know diesels CAN be fast but I can't stand 80% of the drivers cause they swear by its speed only to get there ass whooped. I know two 10 sec diesels yea they are cool but where I'm from in northern Illinois the only people that drive diesels around here are old farmers or dumb punk wanna be hillbilly pieces of shit that think they are fast. I come from southern va (born and raised) so I know what real country folk are and I can't stand people that TRY to be country. Kinda get where I'm coming from?

I veered away from dodge for a number of reasons, the main one being the transmission and chassis in the ford is just superior to the dodge. Either way I dont really care - the Harley truck is nicer than the R/T any day of the week. I like diesels now that I own one :)

Its a 21' ski brendella - I am looking to upgrade to a sanger V215 after I get the new house purchase behind me. The 80K down payment for that fuxed me on a new boat this year. My wife wont let me have any payments for 'toys' :(

honestly 60k for any vehicle is a waste....think aout how long you would have to work just to be able to afford that (depeding on what you do obviously), plus the added % on the payments, not my bag i guess:jerkit:

50-60K is pretty common for a new vehicle nowadays. Here is something cool to know, you can always sell it if you bought it and figured out you can't afford it.

I think diesel guys are the worst on owing more than it's worth, right next to people with motorcycles. You see them trying to sell a $15K truck for $20K. They say they can't sell it for less than $20K because that is what the owe on it, well, they are going to have that truck forever.

Well I could do the 215 but it would leave me broke, which I am not willing to do so I will just wait til next year. My wife and I made an agreement the only payments we would have would be a car and house, so the boat has to take a back seat for now. Bummer...

At least I have a SHITTY truck to tow my current boat around with. Its not every day you get to pull up with a nice boat and a pile of shit towing it

The 6.0 is not garbage - it is for people who know nothing about them. It is actually just an international VT365 with some emissions bullshit on it. The 6.0 can be made to be bulletproof. But nevertheless I digress I will just stick to the powerstroke site to talk diesels.

Any motor can be bulletproof with enough money! Had a buddy with 76k miles it had 2 injectors out and down 1 cylinder! Have another buddy with the same prob

Injector problem is not the motors fault - it is the stupid ULSD requirements that are taking the older injectors out. The immense sulfur reduction takes away the lubricity of the fuel - tell your friends to dump 8oz of ASHLESS 2 stroke out board oil in each tank. My truck runs silky smooth with far less noise of a clacky 6.0 ..... every diesel engine has its quirks, if you want injector issues go cruise the duramax forums on the LB7 ;)

Cummins also have injector and injection pump issues - not to mention transmissions.

I will admit the 6.0 has a really pronounced reputation of being a problem child but there is TONS of them that run like the dickens with no issues. It was the most sold diesel motor of any 2500-3500 pickup in those years almost 2 fold so the issues are going to be there unfortunately.

Either way I like all diesels they are truly amazing how they make such tremendous power :)

Good luck with yours - the duramax can be made stupid fast too. I am leaving my 6.0 mostly stock. Maybe just an exhaust and a mild tune.

Yea that's very true man the lb7 is considered the 6.0 of the Duramax motors! I keep injector cleaner and I'm gonna replace fuel pump often to keep the injectors clean as possible! I love diesels and not sure why do many guys hate them?

They roll coal way too much.

If they roll coal they are over fueled and just wasting diesel - a light haze = good tune, anything more and the owner is a jackass that definitely isnt earning any carbon credits, lol.
