Hey, thanks for the heads up on the obx rental site, we just got back from a week down there and had a blast! Much better than Myrtle. Definitely going back next year, maybe Duck or Corolla next time, we stayed in Southern Shores this time, had a pool and hot tub, definitely the way to go. :biggthumpup:

The hotel is across the river from Harrisburg. It's about halfway between Carlisle and Steve and Linda's house for the Saturday night party. Friday night we will be going over to Williams Grove Speedway to watch the Sprint Cars. The hotel has a bar/restaurant out front and a 24 hour diner next door. Price is $65/gvt $67.50 Internet rate. It's about the closest you can get to Carlisle without paying an arm and a leg. Everything in close is booked or $140+/night.

Rooms are still available as of right now. I have floor space available for Fri and Sat nights if you get that desperate. I might have an empty bed available Sat night. Not sure yet.

blah, i keep saying i'm gonna make it over there but it'd be over a 1000 mile roundtrip from cincy and more importantly i'm teaching this summer so free weekends barely exist.

NO PROBLEM... I LOVE IT THERE.... THE HOUSE WE GOT THIS YEAR HAS A POOL , HOT TUB, SAND VOLLEYBALL COURT 12X22 PUTTING GREEN , POOL TABLE, FOOSBALL OUR BEDROOM HAS A JACUZZI IN IT AND THE HOUSE IS THE HIGHEST PROPERTY IN SOUTHERN SHORES SO IT HAS AWESOME VIEWS OF THE SOUND FROM THE BACK AND NICE VIEWS OF THE OCEAN FROM THE FRONT... LIKE 1/2 BLOCK TO THE SOUND BEACH...2 BLOCKS TO THE OCEAN BEACH.... I CANT WAIT... WE GO LAST WEEK OF AUGUST....

Just wandered into this thread about carlisle hotels, and came across the posts about OBX. We've got a 7 bedroom, ocean front reserved in nags head for the2nd week September. Nice time to go--the rates are way down after labor day--and the restaurants aren't as crowded. But the weather is still nice, only those hurricanes can be a problem.

Gotta love a beach front house where you have a private pool between you and the ocean, lol. Can't wait to get back there.
