Looking to get a good set of headers. Not planning on any major mods right now. Need to be Ca. smog legal. What is the best bang for the buck? Just don't want to have to deal with leaks & fitment issues. Last headers I bought ( for my Ramcharger) were Doug Thorleys. Any advice on the ones to get and the ones to avoid would be appreciated.

you might want to change your screen name. Dont want any "guilt by association" problems arrising...lol

On the headers. Thorleys/PPH/Mopars are pretty good for a stock engined truck. If you have the coin the Spintech midlengths are pretty darn good too. Both setups can be run with a Y pipe configuration.
Choice really depends on the direction you are ultimately going with the truck. Sucks to spends $$$ twice on the same parts!

It would help if you said what engine you have

I don't know if the Spintechs are C.A.R.B approved...but I know the old PPH's are

don't waste your money/time on any shorties. Pph/mopar mid lengths are legal for 98-00 I beleive, I'll have to look up the E.O. No. Foe ya.

yea, remember seeing it from your intro post...

Here is the database for E.O. parts. (might want to add it to favorites)
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php
the E.O. number is D-401-3 and fits 97' V8 auto/manual in 2x4/4x4

I decided to go with a set of Edelbrock Headers due to cost issues and fitment, these will fit nicely and have 1-5/8 Primary tubes.....

I bought the New Coated versions for $330.00 instead of the Ceramic Coated
kit due to the Ceramic kit being 1-1/2 Primary Tubes......

The Ceramic Headers run $380.00......

These will help make some Power and stay Smog legal as they have the E.O. Tag welded to the Drivers side Pipe to certify them come Smog Test time...

I've used Edelbrock parts before and I've always had good results...

its funny that he's asking about headers too.:bs:

I would not buy a stick of gum from Socal Sam. It would come a day late and pre-chewed. :nana:
