The website's host has been upgrading their servers for the past six months, and we've been hesitant to get upgraded because the host won't transfer SQL databases like the one vBulletin uses for online forums. Apparently the host company has decided that directly contacting the administrators of their consumers is too difficult for their tech support people, so they started shutting down the old servers so that the administrators of those sites would have to call in for support. Needless to say, I let their tech support people know what I think of their shitty policy, and they turned the server back on - unfortunately it took a couple of hours to get ahold of a live person so the site was down for a little while.
In the near future we will still need to take the site offline overnight so the SQL database can be backed up and transferred to an alternative server - once we have this co-ordinated I will post some notifications.
