Well took it out to the track today weather was a little warm but it still ran pretty good. I managed to get a 13.2 @103 out of her. The track was hooking ok I managed a 1.87 60' time. The air temp was right around 95degrees so i'm figuring it has some left in it. I should have some long tubes here in a couple of weeks so that may knock a tenth or two off. So I think its going to hit 12's for sure.

not shabby, there should definately be more in it. what are you running PCM wise; stock, B&G, or what?

just a b&g 408reflash. The shiftpoints are set at 5800rpm but in second gear the motor lays over at 5600rpm b/c of the dinky exhaust i've got on there. I'm deffinatly going to need some caltrac bars though. When i'm leaving the back-end drops and then bounces unloading the suspension causing a little wheel spin. I also wouldn't mind dropping a set of 4.10 gears in rearend i'm currently running the stock diff and stock 3.92 gears. The stock fan and clutch set-up. So I think it is a solid 12.8-12.9motor N/A and then I'm hoping to bust 11's on some spray.

I think you're right. That exhaust is holding back some HP, because you should be trapping closer to 110 with a stroker. Mine went 108 with a similar 60'.
I wouldn't necessarily hold out for long tubes though. Most people agree that the mid length headers with port plates, are plenty to get the job done. I have the Spintechs with true 3" duals, no cats, into a Magnaflow X chamber muffler, then dumped right before the rear end.

11's should be cake.

a tad under 5k but basically I replaced everything. I think i had around 3400for heads and rotating assembly, 550for all of the block work, around 600 or 700 for gaskets and misc. stuff.

When you start talking about ported heads and full forged motors the price jumps considerably. But you could build a 408 that would run just as good for less than what i spent. I decided to spend a little more on the eddy heads so I have room to grow in the future if I want. But basically as of right now the truck serves as a daily driver and does a damn good job at it. It actually real street friendly.

hey whats goin on, im new to this forum but i was wondering if you could tell me the list of parts you are running in your 408. i have a 408 with 10.3 comp pistons, 210x krc cam, which i want to upgrade to the 236x, 30lb injectors, 1.7 rr, 53mm tb, sct tuner, k&n fipk, elec fan, and 4:56 yukon gears, edelbrock shorty heads and kinda restrictive exhaust. i currently have stock untouched heads because i ran out of money. i ran a 13.9 on street 20'' tires in a cc truck. i plan on longtube headers and dual exhaust with ported eddy heads with the 236x cam, should get me in the 12's. any help would be great, thanks

I use to run the 236X cam but my 408 is blown so really a different animal entirely. The 236X cam is proven to make 400+ rwhp on a NA 408 so it works well for sure. Need the .600 lift springs for sure and ported heads to get the most from it. Also going to need a high stall convertor minimum 3,200 to work well with the high duration of that cam.

Nice job! I think 12's n/a and 11's on the bottle are definitely within your reach. Adjustable shocks will help with the rearend unloading, stiffen 'em up and it won't bounce and unload (some call it porpoising).

Its all about the total setup I think the 408x cam should get you in the 12's pretty easy. Right now I'm running 10.3 compression, unported eddy heads, m1 2bbl, shorty headers, 55mm tb, 1.6rr with a 228/232@50cam .565/.566lift on a 113lsa, stock 3.92 gears with 2800stall converter. To make the most out of each pass I would suggest some drag tires.

yea all i have are the 20s on it for wheels now so i dont get the best traction even with the stock heads. i have a msaine 2400 stall. marty at krc said he can grind me the 236x to work with my 1.7 rr.I wonder how easy it will be to sell my 210x cam with 7000 miles on it and eddy shorty headers? what size injectors is everyone running?

The 210x should sell fast. Somebody on dak-dur will buy the headers too I'm sure.

With that power and 20" tires you wont get ANY traction. You will struggle at the track until slicks get introduced.

I payed hell hooking up with 17's I can only imagine how hard it would be to hook up with 20's lol.

Is there any major issues with running the 236X besides the obvious desire to have gears/converter/etc? I'm currently using a cam that's almost identical to the basic 408 cam KRC offers, but am thinking about jumping up to something more aggressive later this year.

I already have almost all of the supporting mods... 4.56 gears, 3200 converter, built trans, M1-4bbl, 55x52 F&B, yada yada....

If there is any issues I should find out soon... I'm putting the 236x cam in my NA motor build which is just being started now. I'm hoping it'll be ready in less than 2 weeks. And I'm gonna be running it off a b&g pcm. Dave said he could make it work, but he said my injectors (30#) are too big for my motor and it's gonna run rich. But I dunno we'll see when it comes together I guess.

I would upgrade the heads first and then get a converter to match your camshaft.

I think it would work well for your set-up Steve. What heads are you running? ... and are they ported?

Mopar 2.02's, they're KRC ported but I don't know how far they were taken or what springs are being used - they used to belong to Justin Vincent.

I'd be more worried about vacuum issues than anything. Chad, slammedrt, ran this cam for a while. I'd bump him if this was delphi.

No vacuum issues with it I ran it for quite some time.
