i'm at a fork in the road on making a decision where to go with my truck...to do everything i want to do and have the horsepower i'm looking at 4500-6000 dollars....or i could buy a 5.7 for 1500-2000 and have 100 more horses and then put the difference money wise into it...have seen a few of these hemi swaps and between me and a friend could do it.......or could go ahead and turbo it now....damn damn damn....all about more power...any advice....screw gas prices and i'm not filthy rich but am pretty well off as far as building something?????????

I would build a budget 408 before I'd swap in a Hemi. The torque alone would be worth it.

You could have a lot more than 345hp with $6k in your engine. Altho, a Hemi swap is always cool, and there are some nice aftermarket goodies for them now.

Yep I agree a 408 budget build is the way to go. I built mine for under 5 grand and its a torque monster. And there is no need for all the special crap like new wiring, transmission, custom fab work that you would need for the hemi. Its basically a plug and play deal when you build a 408 if you stay somewhat sensible.

I'd opt for the 6.1

Have you considered a vortech supercharger for it??? I will shamelessly plug myself but for the reason that I think since you are doing heads and SCT anyway it would really be a kick in the pants with some boost....
