OK Mates, Mike (geo2slow4u) is unable to follow this through due to other commitments so I've taken it over.

The buy is for the XPW8 large winged cover, painted, carpeted & with the no-drill mounting kit. Price $700.00 + shipping. We need a minimum of 10 orders more if possible. This is for the 6.50ft bed standard to R/T's. Pics can be found on their new site http://www.superiorfiberglassproducts.com/dodgetonneau.htm

If you have any questions e-mail or PM me. Cheers

This is the list that I have at present so put you name down if interested.
If we get a lot more interest and numbers I will renegotiate the price.

So I backed out on the wheel groupbuy so I could pick up an original innovations prosport and that deal fell through. So I am definitely in on this group buy. Also if I can I would like to order mine without paint, as the whole truck will be getting painted when this comes in(this is the last piece I need). If not then Solar yellow it is.

Please check and let me know! Thanks!

OK guys here's what I've got, 1st is that he can’t do any better that $700.00 on the lids, so that's that, and I tried. Still it’s a pretty good price for what they’re giving us. They will do lids without paint, but you'll only save $45.00The paint brand is MD? Locks are the std. Dual Automotive type, also available (as per their web site) Single Automotive type and Slam Lock Latch (extra) Internal Dome Lights (extra) Carpet is Black (included in price) and the No-Drill frame rail (included) To delete the no-drill frame would save $30.00, but he recommends it. Now shipping, they don't use any particular shipper just where they get the best price at the time and we can check that out ourselves. There will be no 2 for 1 on shipping but he can ship up to 3 in one package (separated by a wood frame which would cost materials only) but would probably work out cheaper. He will do his best to accommodate us with the best shipping available. (Jason ours are coming to Spfld.) Lid weight is between 70-85lbs and the frame rail 15lbs. They require 50% deposit at the time of the order and they could be made and ready to ship in 3-4 weeks. Deposits will be through the Dakota R/T club by check or PayPal (incl. fee) but I will post more about that and a cut off date later. Last issue Quad Cabs, this is somewhat confusing, correct me if I'm wrong is the bed on a Quad Cab shorter than a RC & CC at 6.5' I need to straighten that out with them, their site says they make the XPW8 for QC but he said they didn't. On clarification of the size I will have an answer. Hope this answeres everyone’s questions, apart from you QC guys, but I will get one.
Thanks and avagoodweekend, Cheers

So he recommends deleting the no drill frame rail, which will bring the cost to 670 rather than 700? Or will it then cost 730? Also can anyone explain exactly what this is to me?

Roughly when will we need to send our 50% deposit to get the production started? I understand it'll take about a month after that to get the damn thing but that's fine. I just want the damn thing before the end of August...

Sorry if I didn't explain correctly, I meant he recommends the "no-drill frame" but if you wanted to delete it you would deduct $30.00 being $670.00. Because of all the questions which some are needing correspondance with the manufacturer it is taking extra time. Posted this on DD, but figured Id post it here too.

So is the slam lock latch under the cover/inside the bed or is it some big tacky deal on the outside? Also, if I dont get the dual std locks and go with the latch does it still close sercurley (wont jump up and down over bumps)? How much extra for the slam lock? Why do they recommend the no-drill option? Id probably rather just drill mine in unless theres big specific reason I shouldnt. Thanks.

He recommended the no-drill kit because as he explained it when the lid was lifted uo it put the weight on the front bed frame and as Dak as not so strong in that area he said it added extra stability (thats what he said) still trying to get answers about latch, I've even sent him pics. Not to bitch but I've been trying to answer everyones Q's but not getting much cooperation from manufacturer. Thanks

Well mates, It's time for deposit's they will be 50%, $350.00 You can post through PayPal at orders@dakotart.com OR Money Orders payable to Dakota R/T Club mailed to Dakota R/T Club, PO Box 223, Valmeyer, IL 62295. Please note in PayPal comments when paying "Innovations Group Buy" and Money Orders also. Balance & shipping will be paid direct to Superiorfiberglass at the time of shipping. All involved in the GB will be notified of received deposits.
Now answers to some questions; they can make the lids for QC's, the Slam Lock Latch is a flush center mount lock that you only see the cylinder from the top, when shut it clicks home and is locked down, you will need the key to unlock. This lock takes more time in manufacture (they need to add extra reinforcing in that area & a metal plate) this will cost an extra $50.00, best I can do. They cannot do any special paints, lids can be supplied unpainted & finished ready for painting. As soon as I have received monies from all those who sent shipping info I will place the order, so e-mail info and send money.
e-mail mopar269@mchsi.com.

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger and getting in on the group buy (I know I need to hurry up and get my money in...). Can you get a picture of this slam lock on any of their other tonneau covers? Is it more like a door handle with key lock? A picture would speak a thousand words in this case...

Also, does anyone have a ballpark figure for shipping on something like this?

I don't have any pics of the Slam Lock, it sounds like a door type lock by their description. The zip code for Superiorfiberglass is 92567 and I've been told different weights between 85-125lbs. Take the high side and call UPS, this will give you somewhat of an idea. :goodluck:

Okay, assuming that Paypal charges a flat rate regardless of the amount of money being transfered, $10.45 on $350 is 0.0299%. So, I actually need to send $10.76 in order to compensate for the fee that will be incurred on the fee I am about to send (since I didn't send mine with the original deposit)? Believe me I know all about the fees; between eBay and Paypal fees I estimate that we spend $300 a month selling stuff online for my dad's business.

I just wanted to make sure that the R/T Club wasn't getting the shaft; but if everybody sent you $10.45 instead of $10.76, you lost $0.31 each. So for 25 people, that's $7.75, which isn't a whole lot but it adds up... Anyhow, I sent my $10.76 in :rockwoot:

yes it would be much easier and hassle free if everyone sent in payment via MO. Paypal sucks 3% or more off each transaction.

paint code is on bottom of drivers side door, glove compartment stricter. my paint code is PDR (graphite). you need to include shipping addy, type of lock, and i am probably forgetting something

Sorry Guys, I'm out. Iv'e tried for 3 days to reach someone at Superior with no answer. All they have is a generic answering machine that does not even say who they are. I tried emailing them also, which also led to no answer. I can't risk losing the money. Good luck!!!!

I did some research and tell me if I'm wrong, but Innovations doesn't ship their covers themselves? You have to go through an independent shipping company. So If I spend the $700 for the cover then whatever it is extra for the shipping and it gets to me cracked I'm outta luck? I can't afford to take that chance. I may have to pass if that's the case.

I'm investigating on group shipping, one company, but most companies offer insurance.

And also i'm not looking for my dakota but my dad's 2008 gmc sierra, If they are only offering this GB for the standard bed dakota's thats fine, but figured i would atleast try.

I'll try and get a final answer from my dad tomorrow, Thurday July 10th.
Also if i remember correctly these are $700 plus shipping with a $200 deposit upfront and the final $500 upon shipment of cover, correct?

Also if my dad does order one i'll probably have it ship with rtgrouchman's cover since he lives like 5min from my house lol so if anyone else in the ohio/pa wants to get in on group shipping.

Awesome, thanks for the quick update!

I have no objections to having my cover shipped to the Va Beach area with the other 3 guys but I wouldn't want to fully commit to that until I knew how much money it could potentially save me.
Also, it'd be really nice for me and DJ Wolf to have our two covers shipped together as we work only about 15 minutes away from each other. I don't know if that's possible or worth while but to me it makes sense...

I bet that's only a 15-20 minute drive from my house. As soon as we hear more info from Dingo I'll figure out where I'd like mine to be shipped to. I could go either way, Fredericksburg or Hampton. Whatever is cheapest. I don't fully understand how the multiple discount works though.

Would Mike want me to come pick it up the same day it gets delivered, or can it sit at his shop until I have the time to get down there? Of course I won't want my shit sitting around taking up his space but if I need to get it within a day or two it might be more reasonable to just have it shipped up north so that could be a deciding factor regardless of price.

Dingo-Has the order been placed for these yet? Are we going to be waiting another 2 weeks or 6 weeks to see these things or do you know yet?

Well guys it's unfortunate and I never expected to hear something like this, however I called Superior Fiberglass myself to see what was going on with my 350 dollars. Apparently Super Fiberglass has not received the deposit from the R/T Club yet. He said he's hoping to get the paperwork soon though, and once that happens it'll probably be a month and a half, no more than 2 months though. So don't expect to see your tonneau cover until mid September. So there you go. I don't know why Dingo is MIA though...

FYI order was placed July 14, 2008 and which I had not received all deposit’s, I was told he would start getting things together ready to start production. There have been issues getting monies transferred form DRTC to me and out to Superior without exuberant extra costs. I was not sending over $6000.00 of other peoples money without a guarantee of it being OK and I needed to investigate Superior legitimacy, as had been expressed buy GB members. BTW the DRTC was only a collecting point for deposits not responsibly for the GB, it has been difficult getting info on what everybody wanted and where to ship. I have been in contact with Superior regularly and they knew the situation but assured me that production has commenced. They also informed me that they could produce 2 or more a day and that they would ship when they had enough to ship to location that more than one lid was going. All MONEY has been sent WITHOUT any extra cost. If there has been any inconvenience to anyone I apologize but without this GB you would not be getting these lids for this price. You should see the first shipped within 2 weeks and I will keep contact with Superior to make sure (I want mine as well but it will be the last made). I have done my best but if anyone wants to bitch at me or take over GB, e-mail me direct mopar269@mchsi.com or call 417-844-2840 Thanks

were not bitching directly towards you, a few of us are/were just generally concerned about the situation as to why we havent heard anything about the progress of this GB in a while. the only thing i will say is that if your post you just made was put up a week or so ago i think we would have avoided this. people just get a little wirey when it comes to money. i also would like to apologize if i offended you in my post, like i said we all just want to get these covers & enjoy our trucks!

thanks

No worries mate!

Dingo has not being in MIA just working 12 hours a day at the moment and taking over as DRTC Treasurer.

I instructed them to do the lids in order of most in area of the country 1st. eg VA NY etc.. I know this won't suite everybody but it was the best way of getting it down. :D

That is what I was thinking. Guess I will see mine last since I am a soloist living in the furthest northeast part of the country.

After a lenghty discussion with Superior today at my expense, we should see the first batch of lids ready to ship in 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from this week. The problem remains about shipping, not how to ship or where but who to ship with. Superior have not been as helpful as I 1st thought, but I am still investigating. If anyone has had a inexpensive & good experience with a shipper please let me know. Updates will come as time get closer or new info is available. Thanks to the people who have positively supported this GB.

I can only imagine the shipping coordination on these things are gonna be a pain in your ass!!!

I know I gave you my home address in my email to you, but now that I think of it, I live on a 1 lane, dead end street and don't see a big truck trying to drop one off here! I wouldn't have a problem picking it up at a terminal if it's not too far or a better option for me would to give you my work address........when you find out more info on this shipping nightmare, let us know!

Thanks for time and effort on this!!!

Oh, BTW, I was messing around on one of them freight quote sites, started typing in some zip codes and it looks like Roadway, CTI, and Yellow were the 3 cheapest in that order for most of the zips i used! I'm just hoping we can get it cheaper than what that site was quoting....ouch!
