*If you are drag racing* - Go to tech in the morning or when ever you get there. This is a NHRA track and tech is hit or miss sometimes on there strictness, so don't chance it. Read the rule book and make sure you are legal. Tech at the end of the track, past the traps. You can't really miss it, just watch out for racers coming back on the return road.

If you are not drag racing - enjoy the show, it is a lot to take in.

Burn-Out Contest (Registration at Mopar Nats Tent) - 2:00 PM

After hours.

The cruise at Heath. People line the streets people drive up and down doing burnouts, pretty much chaos, but a must for the Mopar National experience. Tons of people and cars. I intend to and I'm going to try and bring my 17 yr old nephew along. I never know until the last minute though, because I'm self employed. I don't get vacations as a general rule. Happening on a weekend will help a lot though.

I drove 1,440 to Maryland!

Point taken....lol. But I graduate in May/June, and even if I got my kick-ass engineering job right out of the gate, it'd be a lot longer than that before I could dig into the truck -- plus, asking for a week off from a job after you've only been there for a couple months...? Probably not the wisest thing...lol.

I usually convy/park with friends and family, but I'll deff be over your alls way to meet some of you guys and to check out the RTs!

FYI, the earlier you all get there the better chance of getting everyone together!

Anyone going to national trail for the Chrylser classics this year?

I know you, Patrick, and anyone else involved in planning knows this but the motel might need to be one of the first things nailed down. Since it's in conjunction with the Mopar Nats large batches of hotel rooms are quickly going to be hard to find. For one, National Trail isn't even by a lot of lodging and then it's a matter if you want to locate closer to Columbus or stay in Heath. Heath rooms have been selling out almost a year in advance since the Super Cruise started from my experience booking rooms. Like I said, I realize you probably know this and am not trying to chide anyone or complain, it's just a realistic logistical issue with regards to lodging if we're going to try to have everyone at one or two hotels.
Regardless, I'm excited to see this happen.

Seems like I got a decision to make...

Drive the R/T, 2300 miles each way, 15-18mpg

Borrow my dads d-max and tow the R/T, 20+mpg to save a bit on gas

or, borrow the d-max, throw the lance camper in the back, and tow the R/T, 16-18 mpg and a free place to sleep (minus campground fees)

More than likely, I'll use the Chebbie and tow, but whether I use the camper or hotel depends on how many others will be camping. It would suck to be camping alone, lol.

I don't think you'll be saving that much in gas - I really don't see the d-max getting 20mpg while towing a 5000lb truck/trailer combo. Could be wrong.

I just realized that I don't have a single pic of my dads rig, but its this exact camper model below, on a 06 GMC 3500 4x4 dually. While towing my moms 05 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon on a 8x20 flatbed to Mississippi, it got 17-18 mpg.

If you take away the wind resistance and 4,000lbs of the camper it should easily be past 20mpg

The most it's ever got was 240 give or take, but damn near every road trip i go on right around 200-220 miles, you need to be looking for a fuel exit. And that's at 70-75 mph on cruise control.

Five9Dak

Because you are driving way faster than where the motor is efficient at. Try 55mph and you should get close to 20mpg depending on mods, weight and motor condition.

Misfit
01-16-2012, 03:55 AM
I can't run 55 mph, that's where it starts acting like its running out of gas or something, stumbling etc. 50-60 it does that constantly, but if you have the OD off at 50-60 it runs perfect, or just 70 or faster.

Even if I could run 55 mph, that'd be just asking to have your ass ran over on the interstate lol

Five9Dak
01-16-2012, 04:01 AM

Five9Dak
01-16-2012, 04:29 AM
Yeah I hear about 18 wheelers running over vehichles doing the speed limit ALL the time, you are right.

The surging at low high way speeds is a worn tps triggering a false acceleration enrichment which causes a misfire.

Joskanner
01-16-2012, 04:20 PM
I don't think it has anything to do with the motor. Mine does the same thing, at around 60-65 with cruise engauged ONLY, it stutters once in a while. Not bad just now and then, but if I pedal it with the cruise off it runs without a hitch. It seems to me that it's something with the cruise control. I don't worry about it though cause I usually cruise around 75-80 so no probs. But still at those speeds I get around 12 mpg which means I'm filling up about every 250 miles.

Edit: I also have an OBD2 scanner and have checked it on several occations with no datalogs or codes.

Misfit
01-16-2012, 11:49 PM
Mine will do it between 50-60 Cruise on or off. But 70+ it won't do it at all, runs great.

Or like I said, 50-60 with the O/D off, like it has a load on the engine it won't do it either, runs great.

Have you tried a new map sensor? Sounds like its not getting an accurate vacuum signal, and trying to over-fuel at very light load. It could even be a crack in the little rubber hose.

My reservation says that I can cancel up the day of as long as it's before 6PM. I've stayed at Comfort Inns a lot and they are pretty flexable with cancelations.

The hotels close to the track couldn't block off that many rooms and is booked a year in advance. This was the cheapest and it seems farther than it is, it's just up 70 or up 40 if people want to keep their RPM's down.

It'll be up to Sean or Pat if they want to make a list of those who have reserved their rooms.
There will be a "paid attendee" list posted either here or in a separate thread when the time comes to sign up and pay meet fees.

You can leave it at the trails overnight and just ride with one of us back to the hotel. But 40 does run along side 70 for the guys with 727's, they can go as slow as they want.

Living in Texas, 31 miles is almost walking distance. :jester:

And for those who would ask if I'm driving up or not; that's still up in the air, but I'm not against a long drive. I drove 1,440 to Maryland and 1,100 to Phoenix, raced it hard and drove it back home.

And yah Sean, the hotel in Atlanta was several miles from everything we did. It will go down in history as my favorite meet ever though.

See y'all there!!

If you are late past 6PM and someone else wants the room, they can sell it to them if you don't have a credit card hold on it. I put mine down, because you never know what can hang you up when driving so far.

I have a 727 and 4:56's in the Cuda with 29" tires, it cruises just fine at 65-70. It's way easier to drive to the track, and not mess with a trailer.
