Go with different tires...I am running 255/40/17 now...would a 45 or 50 fill the wells better?

Definitely at the minimum, go with a 255/50 tire. I prefer the 275/50 though. You'll see some mpg gain too as well as the rpms will be lower with the taller tire.

If you change the diameter of the tire, doesn't that skew the mpg numbers so that it gives you the impression of a gain?

I would think with the shorter tire turning more rpms, it would get a tad worse. Not that he's going to gain a ton of mpg, maybe .5-1 mpg.

There's a pretty good selection of tires in the 255/50 size, I'm running Riken Raptors in that size, love 'em.

In these trucks isnt it like pissing on a forest fire.....you would need to gain 10-12mpg to make a shit bit of difference anyway :jester:

im with u on this except get the front ones in the 255/50 size for the staggered look. best thing i ever could think of for tires on these trucks. looks great with the rears being 1" wider and 3/4" taller than the fronts. my sig pic was before the staggered look so dont go by that.
