Just wanted to say that I was astounded from talking to Martin today. I think we talked on the phone for about an hour! Needless to say, I'm used to people trying to get off the phone with me over my 1 gajillion questions about everything. Was extremely pleasant, informative, and overall, EXTREMELY knowledgeable about these transmission.
Shit, I think he convinced me to buy one of his complete transmissions when I get my Mazda Pickup sold!
Can't wait to get a setup in the truck

No Offense intended to Martin BUT buying one of his transmissions is Being Cheap.
Any place that comes even close to his caliber of work charges Twice the Price!!! And customer service is ???????????
I know a few people that have been the other routes.
I'll be buying one of his for my heap when I finally get around to messing with it!!

Id rather be cheap and have quality work rather than be broke for the same thing. :D
My only problem is deciding if I want to eat the core charge and keep my #s matching transmission

If #s are that important, send it to him and let him build it. You'll be out shipping and time tho!

Numbers Matching is an Old Skool thing!!!
They don't stamp the VIN Numbers in the parts like they used to.
Not sure when exactly all the Numbers Matching stuff was and when It went away.
Used to be that the block, Trans Housing and all major Body parts had the VIN stamped in them. IE: True Numbers Matching
That went away.
Then along came; Number Matching meant that the car had the correct Block MFG date according to the VIN and Data Plate and correct Transmission for options on data-plate and correct color, etc.
Now a Numbers matching vehicle just means it has all the same kind of parts it was sold new with be they original or not. They do still stamp the VIN in some parts like the frame and maybe the axle but not the block, transmission, or body panels like they used to.

If you don't plan on it being stock with low miles numbers matching doesn't mean a thing. Enjoy your truck b/c its never going to be a big collector item like some people think they are.

I wonder if Martin would cut me a deal if I sent him my 46re, and a TF727 core. For one of his transmissions. hmmm

Yeah I talked to Martin for over an hour and he kept giving me loads of information and replied back to everyone of my e-mails. I was just about to pull the trigger and get one of his transmissions until I became unemployed so I was no longer able to afford one but you can be assured that as soon as I have the money I will be buying a complete transmission from him.

I think it was around 2600 for his street/strip package. The one he was going to build me was just over 3000.

$2300 shipped is what he told me. Youll need a place that has a forklift. +$500 core
