View Full Version : Better but still depressing
Well local track finally opened up for the year. So decide to go out and try out the truck again this year. First thing I found out is the Falken don't grip at all no matter how light I tried to launch. While the new transmission and stall were working great it would still bark the tires shifting into second. Gain half a second from last year and about 4 or 5 mph.
Time- 2.46 60ft
10.04 1/8
73.99 1/8 mph
15.41 1/4
91.26 1/4 mph
Seem to gain more mph in 1/8 and 1000ft then in 1/4. From 1000ft to 1/4 mile seems to start falling on its face a bit. Had same problem last year except was less noticeable this year then last( alot better air though).
I know traction is one of my biggest issue right now but curious on the stumble at top. It does not show on dyno like it does at the track. I was wondering, with the mods and about to put SCT on it, if it would be helpful to try to put a set of 24lb injectors on it(have some laying around)?
Should have put S/C on by now but decided to go with SCT tune so had to wait on some other mods so it won't be going on til late july. Would just like to get a bit more out of it before S/C goes on.

hmmm you got something thats not right beside your traction. I figured with those mods you would be trapping at around 96-98mph. What are you running for a flash if its stock this might be you biggest issue. I also recommend some drag radials to make the most out of each pass.

I wouldn't worry about it, the blower & tune are really gonna wake that thing up. A tune and sticky tires would definitely help out right now, but why waste time tuning it for n/a when you know the blower is going on?

Sorry forgot to put it but it has a Tom Fox flash. Never been all that happy with it though.

Yea I know I should not worry about it but it just seems so slow right now:laughat: and since I had the 24's sitting around thought would be worth a go.

Well yeah, you look at the mods and it should be running faster, but it's all about the complete package. Also, do you know for sure that it's a lean stumble? If it's a rich stumble then the 24's are just going to make it worse. You should get a wideband on there before you put the blower on, that way you can always keep an eye on your a/f.

My guess would be that you're lean with Tom's flash. What are your dyno AFR's?

Get a wideband and get it running right N/A, something is off with that combo. You should be trapping a LOT more than that, especially with those crappy launches. That combo should charge hard mid range to 5200ish, not fall on its face.

Yeah, my heads/cam 360 trapped 103mph last time out.

And the good thing with the SCT is, you can have an NA and blower tune! ;)

might be an obvious question, but is O/D off?

Yea getting a Innovative A/f within a couple weeks to find out exactly what going on.

Yep it is off

last time on dyno was 7/31/07 looks like a/f was between 11.6 to 12.0 from 3400 to 4600 then stays between 12.1 to 12.2 from 4700 to 5400 where peak power was 289.4 hp.

You mentioned does not show on dyno etc... Have you dynoed this set-up?
I know most people that have the M1 4bbl and 2.02 heads really suffer unless they are juicing or blown. I suspect just sort of a mismatched set-up right now until the boost gets added then like Dave mentioned truck should wake up incredibly.

That was with current set-up minus the tranny rebuild and stall. Yea I am hoping like hell it wakes up ALOT when it gets the S/C on it but was just kinda concerned with the stumble at top.

I have heard people adding another clamp on their rear leaf sprins to help with spring movement. Does anyone have a picture of where to put it or further explanations of this?

It's just a set of leaf spring clamps. Add them to the front half of the leaf pack. Some guys cut the factory ones off the rear half even.

It goes on the loose sections in front of the axle.

Ahh thats the info I was looking for. Going to go give it another go next Friday. Borrowing another r/ters drag radials. So going to try the clamp thing also and maybe remove the front sway bar. Just wanna try to get into 14's before finishing mods.

When I first starting pulling the front sway bar, it was the difference between 1.8 and 1.7 60' times. Makes a big difference with weight transfer.

I shaved .3 off my 60foot time by dropping the front sway bar and warming up the m&h drag radials a little more. Got it down to a 1.74 spraying 100shot out of the gate with a stock rearend, and stock longblock in a cc.
