Its not a pain to install headers. Pretty easy actually.

Just need to decide what you want to do with the rest of your exhaust.

Myself I chopped about 6" past the converter and removed everything forward of that. Installed the headers / y pipe and marked where I wanted the 02 sensors welded in.
Then torqued everything down, heat cycled them and took them to a shop to join the pipe to the stock exhaust system and weld in the 02 bungs.
Prolly $100 worth of work tops.

What kind of headers are they, and as mentioned above - have you made plans for the rest of the exhaust?

I'd also recommend posting where you live - you may be able to find someone in the area who would be willing to give you a hand with the install or have recommendations for shops to use.

they are shorty headers thats about all i know when i bought the truck the guy gave em to me and i live in haltom city and i always get my stuff done at mike miller performance and im gonna replace my cat and muffler im gonna keep it a single pipe but most likely have to go bigger around cause of the size of the headers

Shorty headers should be an easy job for anyone, but they probably won't perform much better than the stock manifolds.

I would run true dual 2.5in with performance mufflers. Or you can run a single 3in but i'd prefer the true duals. As far as a performance loss i didn't notice any on the bottom end but it helped alot up top.

I had a guy in the Denton/Corinth area put my PPH headers in with 3" exhaust back to the muffler for $190 after tax.

PM me for details...
