Can't get into low riders...Sorry.

"Laying Frame" while sitting at a dead stop! OoooooooH ---that's kool??? Agreed, lowriders do nothing for me either. Ever ridden in one? I have---Kinda like riding on a brick. Absolutely NO cushioning of the ride.

Guess some of those trucks have alot of work done....but....isn't the too-low-rider thing past its popularity, in favor of more practical customs?

Damn, can't anyone say anything nice anymore??? :nono:

But while we're bashing :jester: Timmy needs to get a cowl hood, I hate cutout hoods on body dropped trucks, but that's just me. :)

Oh, and your truck, best looking one there! What drop do you have? C-notch?

I am not a big fan of the lowriders, but have to give props to the fabrication some of those guys did. Though you're Dodge's lines look a ton better lowered than most of the S10's. Also nice build on that black s10 with a v8. Took alot of fab work, and it paid off in end by the looks of it. Dan

I think if more people knew the roots of lowriding, they might be more inclined to give them the respect they deserve.
If anyone ever has a chance to see it, check out "Sunday Driver". It's a documentary about the "Majestics" of Compton. It also makes one Hellofa drinking game. "Gangsta" says "know what I'm sayin?" about 100 times an hour. If you can keep up and take a swig every time he says it, you'll be HAMMERED at the end. God forbid you should drink when anyone else says it too. Know what I'm sayin? lol.

As for lowriding itself, after WWII, people were doing all kinds of modifying to their vehicles. Some of them liked to cut springs, or heat them up, so the car would sit as low as possible. Eventually, Cali outlawed having a car that was too low to the ground. Some enterprising WWI vets had some firsthand knowledge of hydraulics and installed them in their suspensions, so that they could ride as low as they wanted to, but when they saw the cops, they could bump the ride back up to legal heights.
In the early 90's, people started using more powerful pumps and larger fluid cylinders, so that's when hopping and/or dipping, became more of the standard by which the cars were judged today.

I would own a lowrider and I may still, but with gas prices going through the roof, looks more like I'll have to buy a Low-moped-rider.

I agree with you on the skill it takes. As for the moped rider idea, I am almost there myself. Time to find a slant 6, and build a trike lol. Dan

Always gotta stay open minded and at least appreciate the effort that went into it. I don't mind a slammed truck, thinking about going a lil lower with mine, not laying frame tho. My only peeve with lowriders, as I mentioned, are cutout hoods, buy a hood that covers the engine if you're gonna do a body drop.
