View Full Version : How fast "could" it be?

I recently bought a procharged 2000 R/T RC with a P600B(intercooled). Ran a best of 12.7 at 111 @8psi 52 degrees. Bought a pulley (2.75) from Reichard Racing and now see 9psi(only put into boost once...or twice...but I think it still slips a little....still 1/2 inch play in the tensioner. Have a stand alone fuel(slit second ARC2) and boost control system(Jacobs..to match the rest of the ignition system). 2.02 R/T heads, cometics, headers, cat removed, M1, 50mmTB, 1.7RR,30#injectors, Caltracs, Hotchkis, X-brace........yeah I'm the one with all the bolt on's....more that are not listed.....but no engine work. Mopar performance CPU.....Am I smoking crack to think I can get this truck in the 11's with a converter and tune?

Here is the deal...truck is fun to drive and quite simply it boils down to I have a 12 second truck or I have a 11 second truck(which sounds better)...BUT I don't want to spend the k$$$ to be 12.1.

All the info I have read tells me no/but maybe....I hear of high horsepower numbers on dyno's with my (type of) setup....but have not seen the ET's to back it up. A little advice would be appriciated.

you got mph for 11s just not traction.

If you only have a 50mm throttlebody... you need a bigger one! 55mm at the very minimum. You're probably losing 150+ cfm right there.

what are your short times like?

Do you have an M1 on that or a kegger?

1.95's...with taction.
I have ran the truck twice in the 1/8...8.5 and 8.6/81 and 82mph. 12.7 was 86.

yeah, that TB is TINY for that motor. what stall are you running? gears?

What gears, and what wheels/tires do you use front/rear at the track?

ProchargedR/T

Stock gears. Stock tires/wheels. M&H drag radials (325's) on the back.

I think 11's are possible with the right combo. As mentioned, I'd go with a bigger tb (55 or 58), and absolutely a stall and possibly gears. What headers/exhaust are you running? That's very important on a blown setup, you're forcing the air in, so you have to make sure it can get out.

Also, you want to get a smaller belt, you want the shortest belt you can possibly fit on there, you should have to really fight to get it on, otherwise it won't be tight enough.

ProchargedR/T

Mopar performance Headers into single 3" through cat and muffler.

Belt is the right size...fighting to get it on an understatement.
Used a cherry picker and short strap to lift the tensioner pulley on the SC bracket. the auto tensioner still has 1/4 to 1/2" of movement but the belt is pretty tight....new belt. Will tighten it again today or tomorrow.

Is a 58mm TB too much?

As of now, you should do a 58mm TB from F&B, true dual exhaust (2.5" at least), and an SCT tune. The bigger tb and exhaust is going to wake that thing up pretty damn good, but you still need to be able to tune it, so the SCT is the way to go. Plus the SCT is easy to tune once you upgrade in other areas.

Is the 58 a straight bolt on or is there some grinding required? As far as exhaust what is a ball park estimate for true duals...as this will all be custom fab. I have got the current price for a SCT tune...but that will be the last step. I don't want to be crying on the dyno sheet after upgrading the upgrade$$$. I understand there is no magic formula just looking for guys who have been there and done that.

I think with the 4bbl there shouldn't be any grinding needed, but I'm not 100% sure on that. You can buy an exhaust kit already set up to run with your headers made by Spintech, from www.truedualexhaust.com . Rick is a member on here, and a supported vendor of the DRTC. If the truck is running good now, just not as fast as you'd like, change those 2 items and see what you have. Like we've said, just getting more air in and out will really wake that truck up. Unfortunately we only have about 1 active member running the Procharger setup, RTSpeedDemon (Kevin), but he has a full engine build under his blower, I'm sure he could help more than most of us though. Hopefully he'll see this and chime in.

Thanks for the input....I just called a couple shops in my area to do an exhaust and I will look into a bigger TB. Sounds like I need to get more air in/out. I can worry about a stall/tune later. If anyone wants to trade my 50mm for their 58mmTB look me up haha:goodluck:

Hey Shawn, where in VA are you? I'll be pulling my 2.5" Spintech duals out of my truck this coming week, and I'd really like to sell 'em without having to deal with shipping :) I believe they will bolt right up to the Mopar headers (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they worked with both the Mopar and Spintech headers). I even have, what I believe to be, the best set of side pipes Spintech ever produced (nice and even, with the proper slash cut) It's coming out in a few pieces, so it'll need to be welded back together, but any exhaust shop can do that for you. Let me know if you're interested and we'll work out a deal.

Oh, and some folks have fit the 58mm with no grinding at all. Mine fit without grinding, but there was a lil bit of an overhang that I ground off, just to make sure the flow was smooth. The nice thing about the 4bbl is you can take the adapter off without having to remove the whole manifold, that way you don't have to worry about shavings getting in the engine.

get rid of the cat. if your in a state where you can't then you can put some flanges on each end of it so you can swap out to a "test" pipe

Cat is free flowing....nothing but a cosmetic piece for the inspector.

I believe they will bolt right up to the Mopar headers (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they worked with both the Mopar and Spintech headers).

They won't bolt up to mopar headers without some kinda adapters and/or fabrication.

But will be cheaper fabbing this system to the Mopar headers rather than fabbing up a whole new system.

Hmmm, what's the problem? I thought the Mopars and Spintechs were the same length? Collector flange not the same?
