W7 are the competition

people do not compete with w-7's unless they are in an SQ class because they are to power hungry- from installing I would say the w'6s or w'0s are the most versitile. Also your console will need to be huge bacause they require alot of air space and you won't get them behind your seats unless you do a blow through box using your bed.

Go with 2 w6's. They sound great require less power and space.

Have you heard anything about the new W5's? They are the new shallow woofers from JL.

I have not seen the shallow woofers from Jl but all shallow woofers again are for more of a sq set-up- not loud bass. But they require less power- A good way to judge a woofer is by the size of the magnet- the larger the mag the more power and output it can handle- The magnet dispurses the heat away from the voice coil helping to keep it cool and not melt- But your amp plays the biggest part- over powering your woofer or feeding it distortion will fry a voice coil quicker than you can find the nearst speed bump. you need clean power and a clean signal- built in low pass crossovers are a must and keep them around 60hz or lower and try to avoid using the bass boost. another thing your amp gain should not be turned up past70 percent or distortion will occur. It's hard to get good bone crushing bass from a reg cab truck unless your really short because you can't get a box behind you- most reg cab owners that want a qualit setup go with a blow through design- then you'll get your numbers
