Finally got them installed. It feels AWESOME to have firm brakes in a Dakota!!!

Woo!

I'm curious to see the difference between Gen II and Gen III braking.

Order some dimpled and slotted rotors from Roe Racing, they are very reasonable and pretty good quality.

Looks really good. Did you do any kind of proportioning valve or using all stock brake components?

Nice!

Now it'll stop as well as it goes! Wonder if it will do a 'stoppie'?

I have a Mopar Performance brake proportioning valve waiting on stand by, but I don't feel it will be needed..

The only thing that I had to make was the adapter bracket.

You must have something wrong.

When I had Gen III v1p0r brakes on the front of my club cab it made a huge difference, I even had the drums on the rear.

Jason had the full Sidewinder kit like you do, and I remember him posting in Andrew's thread how good they were. Something about stopping for a red light at Carlisle during the 2010 DRTC nats.

FWIW, I remember Darren telling me when I originally did the Gen III swap, that the Viper brake booster/master cylinder is the same as the Dakota.

EDIT: Wasn't Andrew's thread but I knew it was in a thread where Dakfink said they are not an upgrade.

I think a few people witnessed me do a pretty fucking hard stop that they didn't think I was going to make at Carlisle, Sunday morning leaving the hotel when I passed everyone on the shoulder and then the light turned yellow.

Sweet, I'm glad you got this all figured out and installed. Now who has some genII front calipers and doesn't want an arm and a leg? I already have the rotors and rear calipers.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought of the tire dressing requirement :nana:

Looks great...I wish I had some to put on mine with the new wheels. Oh well, upgraded rotors and pads and some nice black paint to help hide the stock brakes will have to do for now :jester:

With my current cam only pulling 8-9 inches at idle...holy shit it was a HUGE difference in braking power going back to stock, even the stock 03 brakes. I immediately thought it was a mistake, but you had already paid for them so whatever. I've kinda learned to deal with it at this point, and I realize the new pads and rotors I just got the other day need to be installed very soon haha.

Robby your truck looks fucking sick by the way. I have some rear Viper brakes you can snatch up for cheap if you are interested...just grab some of those caliper covers Darren and others used to have and get them powdercoated red.

I have a set for the rear, but my buddy and I didn't have time to install them as he is on his way to MIR for some Modern HEMI shootout. After the meet the truck will be finished for the year. Mod wise...

My viper brakes stopped like a motherfucker with the factory brembo pads and the Eradi-speed rotors. Since I went to the ebay rotors and cheaper pads though, it hasn't stopped nearly as well. The $60 pads from Advance Auto are better than the egay cheapies that came with the rotors, but not by much. I think the rotors are part of the equation, because my truck still stopped better with raybestos pads and the eradi-speeds, so...one of these days (when I have the scratch) I need to get new rotor rings from Baer.

Your shit looks good though Robby!
