What do you plan on doing with the truck?

Or just haulin ass 1/4 mile at a time?

I also have the viper tranny with a 2000 stall from patc. Have 70,000 miles on it and it is still as strong as the day I installed it- well worth the 1800.00 I paid plus freight.

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/ is the link to the PATC site.
Be sure to search for the threads on the M.Saine transmissions, also. If I understand the threads correctly, they are sold by FastMan (http://www.thefastman.com/transmissionComplete.asp).
Another one to look at is the Dr.Evil transmissions (http://www.dreviltransmissions.com/).
I'm in the same boat, looking for a transmission. There are plenty of discussion threads here that will show you which one(s) everyone goes with. I haven't made up my mind yet...

So between the fastman and viper the trannys, what would be the better of the two? Or its pretty much personal prefferance?

I don't know what else fast man offers with his trannys but at pact when you call they ask you if you need a modded speed sensor- great if you added 20's or 22's and they also ask you what engine mods you've done to help match the stall on the torque converter- you can even upgrade the package to even stronger discs and bands but how they build the viper series is strong enough IMO- it's built to hold 550 hp. Plus when I called I had some young sweet southern bell with an axcent on the phone with me- She sounded so Hot!

Patc sounds like a good one and the hot accent on the phone sounds even better!:D

i just got a built trans and billet 3000 stall from Wayne at APSPrecision.com and its awesome. It totally blows away my stock trans with the modded valvebody and 2600 stall. There is much less friction and when i am cruising on the highway I can tell it requires less throttle (almost none) to maintain speed. It also shifts very firm and is completely adjustable. I just set my part throttle shifts to happen at around 2200-2400rpm and the WOT is about 5500 rpm or so. The converter is amazing too.... the lockup on it is very strong and feels like a 5th gear shift. I got the 6 pinion planetaries for the OD unit and an engineering prototype 5 pinion planetary in the main part of the trans at no extra cost so this thing should def hold some power if i decide to juice the truck anytime soon but for the most part i will probably linger around 300 rear wheel for a while because I am pretty happy with the performance of this thing as it is and it will still pass obd2 emissions which i need.

Final Cost?
3 grand for the trans and converter combined. Its a brand new unit not re-manufactured but he hooked me up because i had previously bought a stall and valvebody from him that i used on my stock trans so I believe he said normally the trans would cost about $3800 and the converter would be about 500 or 600.

for what it is its not too much $. its a brand new transmission never used and every single part of it is upgraded. There wasnt one thing that was left untouched. Now if I didnt get hooked up and had to pay 3800 plus another 600 that would be a lot but i think 3 grand for a trans and converter fully worked was a great deal.
