Going to stay 383 or go to a stroker?

Hoping to go to 440 Source's 496 stroker kit out of my 383.

Good Luck with the build.

Damn, I didn't know you could go that big with a B block. Have you done any piston speed calculations?

I wanted to build a 543 out of my 440, but the piston speed would be rediculous, so I'm planning a 513 instead- it should be able to pass 7500rpm before there's any problems. I just need to build the fuck out of the bottom end and use a Mancini girdle (the hughes girdle is worthless) I have some ported 906 heads that already have made 702hp, I might use them or swap to some Indy's later.

Haven't got that far yet. Here's the link.http://www.440source.com/strokerkits.htm

383 kits are near the bottom.

I know it's chinese stuff, but from what I have read a lot of guys are running it with out problems .

It'll stay stock for now. If I decide to build something performance, i'll use a non matching block.
For now it will be a cruiser only.

That's a badass car, man. I'll bet it's a bit more than a "cruiser" even with a stock engine. I have always been a sucker for the Challengers, ever since watching Vanishing Point. I was saving my pennies and checking autotrader every day looking to buy a 70 or 71 Challenger, it was just pure luck that the 'Cuda dropped in my lap for a great price so I grabbed it instead. I'd still like to get a Chally someday, either a stocker like yours or a resto-mod type.

I bought this car from a friend back in Oct 10'. He had owed the car since 94' and bought to fill a void while his 70' Hemi Cuda was being built. He referred to this Chally as his beater:jester: Me and another friend had asked if he thought he would ever sell it, and if so, how much would he ask for it. I had that conversation in the back of my mind for 2 years. With more and more folks learning of the car and the asking price being exposed(not by me) I called him up one evening and told him I was bringing over a check for the car. I still can't believe noone beat me to it. I smile ear to ear every time i go to the garage.:woot:

While you've got that motor out, send the exhaust manifolds off to Jet-Hot for their Iron Grey ceramic coating. They will stay stock looking but won't rust and discolor like they are now.
