You have to enter the video id between the youtube tags. That's the part at the end of the address.

Now figure out how to enable the Chat function, Mr. Wizard.

That's gonna be broken for a while. They entire site has to go down while I fix it. It also queries the SQL database to make it run so the site will run slower the more people use it.

That's what I used for the video I embeded. The original address to the video was:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezk0e1VL80o

Use the part after = and it will work.

Ahh okay, so you don't use the whole link then. A couple of the other forums I post on you just put the whole link in your reply and it automatically embeds the video without having to click a youtube button.

I've seen that too. I'll have to find the code for it.

That would be easier. But thanks for explaining the current way. I understand now.

Can someone explain exactly how to embed a Youtube video? I have read this thread and tried everything in it, but have yet to figure it out.

Quoted the other post. So what you do in the reply window is click on the youtube icon in the editor toolbar above the reply window. Then inbetween the youtube link code instead of posting the whole url, you just enter in the stuff after the = sign. So in the case of the first quote, you would just enter in Ezk0e1VL80o Then hit submit.

For some reason the embed link on Youtube won't simply let me select a portion of the link. It either highlights the entire link, or doesn't. Even if I copy/paste the entire link between the Youtube icons on DRTC and edit it down to just the 11 characters YE3Zjcngj74, it still doesn't work.
As far as only selecting the text after the = sign, there are several = in each link. Here is an example of what I see when I ask Youtube for an embed link. There are 5 = signs.

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YE3Zjcngj74?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I know, I know....but help if you can!

All you need is the part before the question mark from your link. You don't need all that other garbage.

Don't use the "embed" link from youtube. If you do select that for whatever reason you only need to use the highlighted portion in this example link

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/d0C_BKv1J2s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Once you copy that portion, or isolate it down by deleting everything else, then highlight it and click on the youtube button and you will then have embedded the video once you click submit reply.
d0C_BKv1J2s

If you use just the normal link as displayed in the address bar on your browser, then select the highlighted portion as shown in this example.
http : //www .youtube.com/watch?v=YE3Zjcngj74&feature=player_embedded

Or delete everything else but the highlighted portion(which is the part after the = that we were talking about. Then select it and hit the youtube button and you get this.
