Last summer I installed powerslot rotors, hawk pads and new calipers. Ever since then theres been a horrible and constant groan that gets REAALY loud when going around corners. Now its starting to even make noise going in a straight line. Theres also lots of rattling when going over bumps too. What have I done wrong? I see Rockauto carries brake disc shims to correct runout, and caliper hardware and bushing kits etc but just dont know what to do about this problem. Anyone have solutions and ideas? I'm all ears cause this problem is taking the enjoyment out of driving the truck (99 RT)

Thanks!
Ken

Have you checked the bearings in the front wheel hubs?

Hi Nolan. The hubs are brand new and are not making any noises.
This afternoon I put on new caliper pins and bushings, cleaned and greased all the contact points etc. I also found the dust shields were banging on the rotors so I clearanced those things a bit and most of the noise went away.

While researching for the pins and bushings, I see that theres brake disc shims available. What is the purpose of this? They come in .003, .006 & .009 thicknesses. I sometimes wonder if aftermarket rotors are backspaced differently than the OEM which results in issues
