It's insane. Almost $118 a barrel for oil yesterday. The thing I don't get is why, they said that demand is down, there's no hurricanes, or threats to the oil supply, so why the hell does the price keep going up??? We need to drill our reserves and tell OPEC to go fuck themselves.
The US is the only oil producing country in the world that doesn't have cheap gas, wtf???

That just means that someone in our government is taking care of OPEC by giving them the profits they want.

Canada supplies 20%+ of US oil products, and we're AT $5/gallon.Kinda hard to figure??

ya, between them and Mexico are where most of our oil comes from.... someone needs to break the oil bubble and bring it back down. its the fawking futures speculators that are driving the cost of oil and gas up.

I couldn't agree more. My R/T is going to be parked as soon as the Corvair is roadworthy. I worked on it some this weekend and got a lot done, so hopefully I can get it on the road soon. It's supposed to be good for upwards of 20 mpg, which sure would do my $500+ per month gas bill a lot of good. The next step is getting a couple horses, some tack, maybe an Amish buggy and of course, a buck board. That would shake em up when I'm holding up traffic everywhere. I'd just shrug and tell I can't afford their gas anymore.
The truckers are the ones really taking it in the keister. They rely on that over priced diesel to make their living!

And the ever-weakening Dollar isn't helping matters either.

Now that horse and buggy idea would really help with mileage! You could go all day on a bale of hay and a few pounds of oats!:jester:
My stepfather is a trucker and I can only imagine what this is doing to him. From what I hear, most truckers aren't rich. Poor guys. The worst part is the trickle down to us.:rtfm:

All of the posts in this thread make me happy I dont have a car anymore...public trans is a bitch, but it beats payin that much...holy shit...
On the flip side...Im gettin a bike. Prolly a Honda Shadow. Should be great for the summer when I need to drive at 50+ mpg, but will also store easy in the winter when I dont even need transportation cuz I hibernate...so it works.

The only ones getting rich and forcing prices up are the oil companies, fucking huge profits, some "A" hole in the government needs to grow so "KB's" (cahoonas) and do something. :finger:

Ever see what a vet charges for horse treatment?? :D
Me personally... I dont use a whole lot of gas. My company does though since we travel a few hundred thousand miles a year.
It amazes me that gas is such an expense for people. There aint a job or vehicle that could convince me of more than a 10 minute commute.

Its not bad here in chicago. I pay $75 and get unlimited bus and train rides. I use the train to get to and from work 5 days a week and the bus usually 10-15 times a week for various shit...it sucks, but they are pretty easy. As soon as I get this bike thats over with though.

I will if I get a good summer internship, I'm waiting to hear back. I can't drop a few hundred on the truck if I don't have a job lined up.

Yeah, I live in a well established nice neighborhood. And even our local neighborhood newsletter has reported some cars with siphoned gas tanks in their driveway. This is just insane!

Some cars in the STL hood are coming out to empty tanks, and needing to replace said tanks. No need for a siphoning tube when you can just punch a hole in the tanks with a screw driver.

All I can say is history repeats itself over and over. Hmmm go fast muscle cars are coming out every year, bang gas prices go through the roof. Sounds like history repeating itself again. In no time we will all be driving Dodge Omni's and Honda's all over again lol. Dan

Hmmm....We're paying the most for oil...our economy is in the shitter....what do they have in common? Oh yeah, the value of our dollar sucks dick....wonder why oil is so much...LOL! Fix the economy and start killing our OBSCENE National Debt, and I'll bet you will see oil prices plummet.

Yeah, if the economy gets fixed, oil might drop some. Trouble with oil is, it's NOT ours, and we don't get to set the price per barrell. OPEC dictates that. You think gas is high now? Wait until OPEC cuts us off entirely. It's coming. Now that China has entered the world oil market, OPEC doesn't need our business anymore.
The US has put itself into a position where we are at the mercy of foreign oil. We have all the oil we need in Anwar. Trouble is, it'll take 8-10 years to get it flowing. Gotta start sometime. If it's our oil, WE get to set the price!
End of rant.
