Can anyone tell me what A MSaine Transmission has for upgraded parts in it or on it????? thanx

Has anyone that runs the transmission have the shift problems when under full throttle????

Might have to play with the resistors to dial it in...Mine would hang, I added another 25 ohm resistor. Fixed it.

I had to dial in my TV cable, and I've had zero issues since. Mine shifts into 2nd at 5200, and hits 3rd at 5500. I'm attributing the higher second shift to the GM pressure solenoid that I had Martin install, but I really like it that way- it gets me a few hundred more rpm at the bottom of third so it pulls through third a bit faster.

I looked up my invoice form matrin to see all that he listed.
1. He started with better clutches and bands than a standard rebuild
2. He installed one extra clutch and steel in each pack
3. He installed a stronger 5 gear steel planetary set
4. He modified the kick down lever to make it downshift sooner
5. He insalled one of his modified valve bodies that bypasses the tc lockup in third,
6.He installed a GM governor solenoid.
6.He also included a 2800 stall convertor with torrington bearings and a performance lockup clutch.

If I remember correctly, he also installs a different pump that runs at a higher pressure. The factory trans runs with about 55psi, so the clutches slip and burn easier. Martin's tranny runs closer to 150psi to eliminate the slipping.

So far it has worked great, the total for my trans was $2375

awesome thanx for the info
any pics of this resistor you speak of and can a guy do it with the stock trans?
No upgraded in put out put shafts..... correct me if im wrong im just trying to know more about transmitions. I want to have one built but gotta know what to ask first.
i would buy one from msaine but to have it sent to canada is insane when there is a really good local tranny shop in town here.

He installed a new output shaft in mine because mine was f*%ked. He also upgrades the OD unit.
One more thing he did to mine was the constant pressure valve body. Here is what he emailed me.
"Other options besides TransBrake and Manual VB, I can also do a constant pressure VB which provides full pressure to lubrication, clutch and band apply circuits regardless of throttle opening.
This is particularly helpful with turbo and supercharged applications where lots of power can be made with very little throttle opening. Low throttle opening results in minimal Throttle Valve lever operation, which results in low line pressure to apply circuits at light throttle openings, which can kill off the friction materials.
Modifying the valvebody for constant pressures allows the TV circuit to control shift timing, but not shift pressure. These units can be made to produce really firm and hard shifts, or smoother shifts depending on your preference."

and more on the trans and torque converter...

46RE Street/Strip 700
Designed for up to 700 flywheel horsepower
Some of the Features:
Fully rebuilt end to end
Upgraded 5 gear steel front planetary set
Upgraded rigid bands with performance linings
Upgraded band struts
Upgraded Kick-down lever
Added clutches to all forward clutch packs
Upgraded OD unit
Custom machining for increased lubrication, cooling, and apply circuits enhances durability and longevity
New Gov Pressure/Temp sensor
New Gov pressure pulse solenoid
Performance friction materials, bushings, bearings, and seals
Custom Street/Strip valvebody increases apply pressures, increases flow to critical components, charges converter in Park, improves shift timing, eliminates shift overlap. Included in your price quote is the TCC By-pass which eliminates the converter clutch locking up in third gear. This gives you a much cleaner and harder pulling third gear, with no "BOG" right after the third gear shift, while simultaneously extending the life of the torque converter clutch.
The results of the valvebody work in conjunction with the transmission upgrades are lightning quick and firm shifts without being overly harsh when you're cruising at light throttle. The heavier you are on the throttle, the firmer the shifts will be.

For your converter I would recommend the Ultra Billet which features: (see pic below)
Custom one piece billet front cover
10" turbine section with furnace brazed fins
Anti-balloon plate
Full 11" clutch with performance lining
Full Torrington bearing construction for durability and longevity
Hardened drive hub
Custom stator with billet splines
7/16 bolt holes for SFI approved flexplates
Custom hardware for installation included
Precision balancing
Stall speeds to be custom built -matched to your combination. I'll include one free stall speed adjustment. You pay shipping, no charge on this end to adjust the stall speed.
Horsepower rating on this converter is 1000+ flywheel horsepower.

7/16 bolt holes for SFI approved flexplates

Who makes an SFI flexplate for us?

Very good question! I looked everywhere for a Internal balance SFI plate. I ended up ordering a stock 1999 5.2 unit from Lithia online parts. It was 30 bucks compared to Hughes' $45. (I didn't want to buy from them anyway)

No one makes 'em for the 46RE.

Nobody that I could find...checked many sources. Mopar performance is the only place i found that had one, but i don't think it was sfi approved.

They used to have SFI flexplates, but they discontinued them in about 2001. I actually bought one back when I first built my 408, but it was for a 5.9 (weighted) so I sold it.
