It can be done. I ran across a Gen III Quad Cab with a V10.

It's been done 4 or 5 times in Daks/Rangos.... it seems like a lot of work. It's cool but ultimately not worth it for anything but the cool factor

It's been done. From the ones I have seen, the firewall has to be moved back into the cab, or the radiator has to be moved into the bed. I've never seen one that simply fit the engine bay with no alterations.

Not really, depending on the year the RT/10 is, it's either 400hp or 450hp, now stick that in a 4000lb truck and you've just spent a whole lot of time and money to build a 13sec truck.

A viper motor is a complete waste of time and energy. All show IMO.

Need Wings?

Seriously have you not seen the power some of us are making with a Magnum engine?

Nearly twice what a stock Viper motor is putting out.

Guess it depends on which Gen Viper motor you are talking about. Aren't the newer ones putting out over 600hp stock? Don't see too many Magnum block Dakotas pushing that much even on boost.

Viper engines are great when used where they were intended.

Outside of that they are just a Novelty piece.

Try finding after-market heads and a stroker crank for a Viper V-10 of any year??

And from what I gather the different generations of Viper V-10's pieces don't mix and match too well either.

You would have better luck building BIG power and actually make it fit with a V-8 combonation of some sort.

600 at the crank not the wheels. We have a few of us now at 700 rwhp.

I like it.

A Viper motor won't be ideal for drag racing.
It's not gonna be the fastest truck, and it wont be cheap at all, but I think it would be pretty sweet anyway.

One thing that I know for sure- there no way in hell I could ever get close to 600hp and still be emissions legal with a 5.9.
In CA, you can do a fully legal motor swap, as long as the new engine isn't older than the vehicle, and the new engine is accompanied by all of it's emission system. Having a fully emission legal Dak with a 600hp srt-10 motor and a t56 would be fun :drive:

I understand what everybody is saying about V10 VS V8 (5.9). See evrybody keeps tolking about HP. just becouse you have a lot of HP that dont really mean you have a lot of FP (foot pounds) now as for a R/T 10 I dont belive Dodge was going for all HP you can still have a lower HP and a greater FP..

Very few and still don't have the novelty of having a Viper motor. Not saying it's practical, but you spend a few extra $$ on the V10 prior to dropping it in and you are right there with your HP numbers with no power adder.

Well we could argue HP till the cows come home?
(I saw them flying in twister hoping they land soon)

I would go Chevy LS6 long before wasting effort on a V10 Viper motor :stirringthepot:

Just to bring this back on topic :) He said it was out of an R/T-10, so it's either 400hp or 450hp. They stopped making R/T-10s when the 500hp SRT-10 came out, which then got bumped to 600hp in '08.
