Doesn't have to be show quality. My truck is far from it, but it's worth the price to park inside the park with everyone else and just hang out instead of trying to find parking outside then having to walk who knows how far to get to see anything. It's a big park and draws a very large crowd.

On Saturday it's a first come first serve type parking thing. Sunday you are parked by class. So if we all want to park together we need to roll in together on Saturday.

So found a hotel for $45 a night in Calabasas which looks to be about 20 minutes from the park. Get's decent reviews. Anything closer you are looking at almost $100 a night.

I will be winning nothing, I guarantee that my truck will be in the poorest condition out of any of the r/t's that show up. I am a painter by trade and use my truck as a DD and just spilled a gallon of oil based stain in the bed yesterday! My truck has a replacement door from a red SLT that the previous owner painted black. If it was raining, I think my truck would look pretty good!:biggthumpup:

It is gonna be a very long transformation process but it will get there! In the past 2 months I have:

Re-wired to bypass factory anti-theft, just so I could start the truck ($200)
replaced 15" rims and tired with original 17" rims and tires ($375)
new seats ($250)
fixed driver door so I could open from the inside (Free)
fixed passenger window, so it actually goes up and down (Free)
replaced broken turn siganls with new ($30)
replaced turn sig light sockets with new so the light bulbs do not have to be siliconed in ($40)
added fluids to the truck (all were empty) ($70)
replaced stock K&N air filter ($55)
new cap, rotor and 8 mm wires ($70)
fixed trans cooler leak from previous owner using garden hose (WTF) ($100)
re painted driver side front fender from previous owner using no primer and severely peeling ($25)

Next up is brakes and balljoints

I'm using mine as a daily driver for work to but I'm a banker, and I live 3 miles from work! These gas prices have got to be killing you!

Gas prices do suck, I work about 130 mile round trip daily. As for the truck when I bought it 2 months ago, I have learned to never buy a black car at 8 pm from somebody that lives on the wrong side of town. Yea, I have put just a little over a grand into it to get it running solid and be dependable but I look at it as I only paid $300 out of my pocket for the truck. Sooooooo, no need to worry about your R/T not being is show condition this weekend, you can always point at mine and go," yea, mine looks real good" Lol. It is a work in progress and someday it will be where I want it to be, till then, I love my truck and will continue to improve it!:biggthumpup:

Also, my truck gets better gas mileage than my 05 hemi durango, so the family and I will choose to take the dak alot of the time!

Had a great time this weekend. All the CPW Club guys kept commenting on how there hadn't been that many Dakota's at the show in several years and they were glad to see a resurgence. Although only one Dakota took home an award and it was a tacky flamed R/T with some JC Whitney special running board/fender flare combo deals and silver painted underhood wireloom. Now I'm not one to knock on running boards as I ran them on my '99, but these were bad. Here's a few teaser pics for you guys who missed today.

Well, it's billed as the largest all Mopar show west of Mississippi. There were probably at least 300 cars there. they gave out over 150 trophies for all the classes, plus they have a vendor section and a huge swap meet section.

Had so many beautiful cars. There was a numbers matching 1970 Hemi Cuda convertible. One of 16 cars made. They don't just drag one of those out for local car shows!

According to the CPW website, there was 676 mopars, 291 swap vendors, and 51 manufacturer vendors.

I think there was 8 or 9 drtc members and their trucks, plus another 6-7 Dakotas and Durangos, including the orange twin turbo Durango from the mopars at the strip show.

I didn't take many pics, but Brian and Kevin got a bunch, I'm looking forward to them.
