Just Wondering If The Csr Magum Water Pump Was A Direct Fit Or Needed Modding

It's a direct fit.... you just have to figure out how to run the belt after the water pump pulley is gone....I think Sam has it done to his truck, maybe others?

I'm right there with ya!

It would be nice to see a good write up about the install, I'm sure its not easy, but it would make a really nice mod!!

Sam never ran one on his truck. Just pics.

It's a direct fit, comes with the adapter plate, I have one on my new engine. As mentioned, you just have to figure out what to do with the belt routing. Best suggestion I've heard is to add an extra idler, between the ps pump and crank pulley, to make sure you get enough belt wrap around the crank pulley. That's what I was going to try to do, but since the stock accessories aren't going to work with the W5 heads, I have to figure out another way. There's a few different companies that make low mount alternator and ps setups, I'll probably go with one of those.

Here's what I was thinking for belt routing originally (the white dot is the extra idler that would need to be added, location is just for visual demonstration, you'd want to place it as high and as close to the crank pulley as possible for maximum belt wrap):

Here's the CSR pump on my engine (I wonder how many threads I can post this pic in? LOL):

Are you serious! lol That rat bastard! :nono: He showed me those pics a while ago, just figured it was running with it on.

Dave, How far did you look into doing the extra idler? Did you get any good information or parts for the mod?

It would be really nice to have a motor out of a truck to do the mock-up, I'm sure its going to be a pain to try to do this to a motor in the truck, but I guess you're more less ripping the front of the truck apart anyway...so maybe thats the time to do everything...

Might want to contact Greg at Magnum HP for one of his trick front timing covers

also you'll have to replumb the lower radiator hose since the serpentine belt will be in the hose path.

Haven't done anything past the sketch you see above. Obviously a bracket or some type of mounting point would need to be fabbed. I'm probably just going to go with a low mount setup and not worry about it. But for anyone wanting to keep the stock accessory locations, they'll have to figure it out.

Yup, the inlet points right at the belt. So either a 45* fitting, or maybe one of those metal flex hoses, if they're enough room.

I was going to use a front motor plate from Jegs to help secure the engine and give a place for an extra idler pulley

Did a lil test fitting today, and the stock alternator bracket does bolt up to the W5s! Only problem is the bolt on the back of the alternator is right on the sheet metal valve cover, so I'll have to get the corner of the cover notched. The ps pump is still in the truck, but looks like it should bolt up. So I guess I'm back to figuring out where to put an extra idler. :)
