Got this made to install my MSD in a nicer spot and clean up the engine bay quite a bit. I moved the PCM over to the fender so the wires will flow right to the back, but I wont be able to get that put in for a while.

Dave...so you moved the PCM to inside the fender? Then this utilizes the stock PCM mounting holes and acts as a mounting surface to mount an MSD box?
I think I am going to move my MSD this spring, and then may be the time to move the PCM and do some wire cleanup...

Looks like this mount is much closer to the firewall than the original pcm location.

I was kinda thinking that...looks like it would be in the way of my washer fluid reservoir huh?
I want to have mine mounted in the engine bay this time...

Ya, it's on the fender support bracket

You know, I thought Richard had an older truck...you'd think he would test fit that bitch with the reservoir in place. Weird. Good thinking, Andrew. My 01 had the washer fluid in the stupid fan shroud but I removed it and plan on using the 99 style washer fluid bottle for my meth kit. I am thinking of where I want to mount my MSD though since that'll probably be going on very soon, too.

He sells another style mad mount that is behind the passener side headlight. Im thinking about jumping on one.

I saw the one he made for his truck that locates the MSD right behind the passenger head light...Looks nice as well. But, I can't put mine there because I got a 9" filter hanging off my K&N tube.
Maybe I should finally get an open element and mount it behind the HL after all?

That's what im worried about I have a large filter on my KN too.

Yes, you'll love the open element over the k&n tube bullshit. Your engine bay will finally match your exterior...

Yes, the PCM is in the Fender, and it uses the far right bolt for the PCM and then the hood hinge bolt for the other end. I wanted to mount it as cleanly as possible and this should do the trick.

This is a custom one-off job for Dave specific to his truck. He is not running a water reservoir. His ignition box also has a smaller footprint than the MSD 6A or 6AL. This platform extends over the hood hinge bolts (so you don’t have to monkey with them) and fastens to an existing factory hole toward the rear.

But, I can't put mine there because I got a 9" filter hanging off my K&N tube.Is the 9” filter larger than the filter that comes with the K&N CAI? I designed the one essentially behind the headlight so it would work with the K&N CAI. The filter is placed to the right of the A/C line, not in the center of it. When I mocked it up I did position the K&N CAI in place to be sure it cleared. If you are using a larger that supplied filter then I don’t know. However, if it is positioned to the right of the A/C lines it should fit. http://dakotart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12847

I know my filter is positioned to the right of the A/C lines...it's probably similar to the original K&N filter, now that I think of it. I cut off 3" or so off the K&N tube so I could fit a larger filter on it. Hmmm...now may be the time to go for an open element anyways. Just gotta decide where I want to mount my MSD...

For the MSD 6A and 6AL mount/bracket I'm thinking $64.95 + $10.50 shipping (continental US). I'll try to get details sorted out on my vendor section and post it up soon.

Finally had to install it, I wanted to wait till I have the nut rivets to mount it up easier. Makes it easier to mount and dismount the MSD box.
Here are some pictures.
Mount in place with the Nut Rivets 8-32, probably could of gone with a #10

I saw it myself today and it looked like it belonged right there. I'd love to pick one up if I knew it would fit with the 99 style washer bottle in place. It looks like it would probably be a pretty tight squeeze.

Looks nice Dave. Painted black, it blends in well with the rest of the engine compartment.

It won't fit with the washer bottle in place.
