You guys wanted an update when I finally got the track......... Well I'm not a virgin anymore. Took the L to the track Sunday for the first time.

We used to go to the track pretty often back when I had my R/T (bolt-ons and N2o 12.5@108 best), but the last time was early 2004! And I've never been in the Lightning since I bought it last May.

One of the Lightning guys was nice enough to loan me his full set of Bogarts cuz my 20's are a joke for traction.

The weather was nice, around 70* with low humidity, but we had a 20+ mph head wind.

First pass was with a little over 1/4 tank 93 gas on my regular street tune.

Second pass was with 5 gallons of 104 race gas added which gave me 1/2 a tank of gas, and my conservative "street race" tune installed.

First pass it launched pretty well, nice and straight, no drama.

The second pass it tried to launch hard, but I guess the extra power from the tune made it unload and spin a little. But my time was still slightly better and my mph was much better.

I only got two passes in so I didn't get to mess with the QA1/Strange adjuatable shocks, didn't pull the sway bar, didn't mess with tire pressure, didn't ice the IC tank, still had my heavy ass Innovations tonneau on and all my big ass stereo system, no weight reduction, etc etc... Aside from the Bogarts and tune everything else was left like it drives on the street.

I forgot to hit the scales with the Bogarts on, but I did weigh it with the Boyds before I left. It showed to weigh 5225 lbs with me in it - I weigh about 220. So about 5000 lbs.

Considering all that and it being my first time racing in years, and my first time ever in the Lightning, I was pretty happy with the times.

I may tweak some things and go back and see if I can get kicked off for not having a cage.

Nice job! That's a heavy ass truck ya got there.

Very stealthy with the black D-10s, if you didn't look close enough you might just think they were steel wheels :)

Whats done to the truck? A friend has a pretty sick L and it was running low 11s last time out. Should be running faster real soon. He went with a nice turbo setup.

Thanks man. And yes, it needs a little weight reduction if I'm gonna get serious at the track.

I'm kinda torn on the black wheels. They do look mean, but I like the polished look too. :bling:

If/When I buy my own set, they come polished, so I doubt I could bring myself to blacken a brand new set of $1700 wheels.

Turbo Lightnings are becoming more popular and are some nasty ass machines! Mine is just a built forged motor with heads, cams, a Whipple 2.3, exhaust, etc etc.....

Put down a little over 600RWHP.

Thanks. The MPH did pick up a lot. I wonder if the head wind died down on that pass?

It's hard to say since I only got two passes in and didn't have time to really get used to the truck.

Guess I'll have to go back and practice more! LOL!!

Yeah, they look good, but I don't know if I could powdercoat mine, they're pretty sweet polished :)

I've always loved the lightnings. A buddy of mine had one. It was pretty much stock except exhaust. It was still a fun truck. One day I wouldn't mind having one, just couldn't afford it right now. I'm not saying I'd give up my r/t for one, but it would be fun to own both!
