Got hit by a Silverado

[99R/TMan]

Saturday night i got rear ended by a silverado. the damage is: tailgate smashed, roll pan,smashed, pass. side rear panel, smashed, both ext. cab rear panels, smashed in from bed hitting into my cab, spare tire, rim damaged, spare tire holder wire snapped. oh and now by bed sits cockeyed. here are pics. enjoy while i drive my focus rental car.

welcome to my world. minus winter storage, mine's been in the body shop since June. currently in a different body shop cause the first one was incompatent.

fork out some extra cash and get the hole thing repainted. you were complaining about the paint, right?

my insurance didn't total this.... $8500 in repairs so far. i bet it breaks $10k in repairs.

LOL!!! two concrete walls. it just slipped out from under us on the highway in the rain and bounced off a couple concrete walls. i also had cab damage on both sides worse than yours.

i doubt they will buy me a new tonneau. it really isnt messed up, just the seals above the tailgate to keep out water are all ripped off. yea it does suck.

yea when the guy hit me i was first in the u turn, and he pushed me in the lane with cars coming so i figured the shit is already messed up in the back so i reversed into his shit to get out of the way. so i got chevy back

no panel rep[lacment that i know of. i guess they popped it out as best as possible and filled it. turned out good.

haha yea so they didnt total it out. they called and asked were i got the roll pan, and that they were gonna replace it. so they are trying to find it. so i gave them the part number for it.

hell yea. the chevy's tow hooks like ripped holes in my roll pan. and farmers tried to argue that my spare tire wasnt damaged in the wreck. i said :bs: he hit my damn spare and knocked it off, it was all scraped up were the holder took chunks out, i was like yea it did and replace it.

Farmers all ready has $8500 into it. i'm betting the total breaks $10k. they only total it if the damage is greater than 75% of the vehicle value. guess my truck is worth a lot, LOL!! and they did say the all the aftermarket stuff i had on it increased the value.

aftermarket parts replaced = Stillen bumper cover, Euro head lights & corners, CF tail lights, Xenon spoiler, SS roll pan and one M&H 325/45-17 DR. i think that's it...

1-did they give you a hard time for not having the factory bumper ?
2-how durable are our trucks,when taking a hit from the rear with a roll pan.
I remember the big nissan/toyota craze in the 80's-90's and them trucks received bigtime damage even when rearended by a motorcycle.

if you look at my pics in the first page, you can see it took it good. for a 5000+ hit my lowered little truck at 35 with me at a stand still. i think it took it well. my truck actually bent his bumper back into his tires!!:jester:

i still had the factory bumper and valance under the Stillen, so no hastle.

i don't know about the other part. my impact was at an angle right in the corner of the bed. so i don't think a bumper would have made a difference. in fact i'd bet the bumper would have caused more damage to the frame since a bumper is tied directly to the frame.

it fit's pretty good. the cover has some low profile rails that clamp on. they have velcro on top and velcro on the edges of the cover.

look up the Xtang RT on their web site.

well guys just got the call, and they are gonna fix it. a total of $3200. new stuff, rollpan, spare tire, tailgate etc. it will be ready on the 25th and i cant be any happier that i will be out of that focus.. screw gas mileage, give me POWER:jester:

well sorry to hear about your bad luck, just don't rush them (worst thing you can do with a body shop) Did you decide to go with a full repaint or just the repairs. Last year one of the my friends dad backed into mine and i ended up having to put a new tailgate and rollpan on at least i got rid of my factory bumper.

he said they probably wont be painting the whole thing, which is fine b/c i have a painter that i would rather paint it at my work.

My insurance paid for my repairs, less my 500.00 deductable, and I have not heard a word from them since, and I know that the other guy was at Fault.

So basically I got screwed......

The back bumpers of these Trucks will take a substantial Hit without frame damage.........

it's finally going to the Body Shop tonight after work and it should be repaired
in about 2 weeks and back together and Running again....
