your dam right about that. I had my cylinder heads off when i was switching over to the edelbrocks and i wanted to do the cam at the same time..... but heard horror stories about trying to get the crank pulley off without an air gun because it would simply spin the entire engine so I was like no way am i gonna do this and take the whole front end apart so i put the new heads on and called it a day..... or weekend.
yeah you would have cried if you pulled the cam and found this lol thats what happened to me....yeah you def need a air gun to take the balancer off that and a degree wheel and micrometer and all kinds of special tools lol :rockwoot::rockwoot:

o man that looks like a huge chunk of metal scraped off the cam bearing. did that just happen when you were removing the cam? i def woulda not known wat to do if i found that.

looks like it may be time for some new cam bearings. But I thinkthat looks pretty common with these trucks that have over 50k on em might had a couple of peices missing but none that big and I have a about 73k on mine and i have to do a complete rebuild.

no i was so careful when i pulled the cam out. that was the way it was before i removed it. there was no scoring on the cam what so ever. i was totally shocked. i dont know if you asked but i bet one of yours yours probly looked the same. the machine shop probly fixed it for ya

Thanks for the compliment. The cam is 480 lift with 1.5 rockers. Its 512 with 1.6. I run 1.7's though so i am at 544 lift. I just recently got a custom transmission from APS and got a billet 3000 rpm stall from him to go with it so thats what i think is the best stall for this combo.
how do you like your aps tranny i have have one of my own and i love it...i got the 2800 billet stall that he has. i love how fast and hard the tranny shifts
and another quick question did you have to go with differnt lengh pushrods or are yours still stock lengh????

well i still have to get it adjusted. i have to back off on the TV cable but I have to drop the pan first to adjust the minimum shift points to firm them back up for when i back off the TV. Besides this though I can tell its a well made unit it feels like it has less resistance than the stocker and the converter is very strong and locks up firm like a 5th gear shift.

i went with the 7.0" pushrods that came with my crower hi-rev rocker kit. i tried stock length but it was too short.

I have some Crower 7.00" pushrods. Used very little. 65.00 shipped.

what is the stock size of push rod? i went with 6.9" pushrod, what marty recommended for the 210x cam, but ive just been mostly wondering how a 4 bbl m1, 52mm tb and 2.02 valves will flow for the cam, if it would be enough since on krc's dyno site section stated the cam combo they tested needed more air.

stock length is 6.936". One guy I knew went with 7.05 and others said 6.95 and i tried the measuring methods and it seemed like 7.0" was the best choice but they are all pretty close to being perfect so I felt safest using something halfway between wat i have seen everyone else use.

my smith bros. pushrods came out to 7.05 after using the checker tool
yeah i picked up the tool today so we shall see lol
yeah the stock lengh hardened pushrods are tooo long..or i got took lol cause i picked up some "stock" lengh pushrods and they are longer then the ones that came out of my truck. so i need shorter ones. anyone know a good place to get these done at ???

Summit, Jegs, etc all have pushrods. Smith Bros is a manufacturer and you can order direct. http://www.pushrods.net/

That 210X/604 cam should need 6.95"-7.0" Due to the smaller base circle.

well going off how you supposed to measure it on comp cams website they are supposed to be 6.669

That sounds like you are measuring on the tip of the lobe, not the base circle. Wow that would be a noisey engine. lol....

is that with adjustable rr or non adjustables or does it matter?????

Doesn't matter, but your measurements need to be VERY accurate w/non-adjustable, and you should measure ALL 16 and take the(close) average. One or two long stems with throw a wrench into the average! It's not generally recommended to use non-adjustable with a smaller base circle cam. JMHO

I think you need to go back and be sure you measure on the base circle. Clean the valve stem tip, apply heavy coat of black marker to the tip, place the rocker on the stud and move the rocker across the tip. The resulting witness mark from the roller should be on the inboard 1/3 of the valve stem.
