my friend was telling me theres a 4 bbl intake manifold for R/Ts they make but i also heard 4bbl is carb motors only. would a 4 bbl fit on an 01 R/T with a new throttle body or will it not work and should i just get the Mopar M1?

They make both a carb'd and EFI version. There's also a 2bbl, they're both called the M1. Both will work with the stock throttle body, the 4bbl just uses an adapter. Altho upgrading the tb is a good way to go when you're putting an M1 on. 2bbl or 4bbl depends on what your plans are for the truck.

along with what dave said. the 4bbl M1 is for highly modded trucks. the 2bbl M1 will take you a long way with mods.

2bbl will work fine upto around 400hp. I forget what the cfm rating is on it before it becomes a choke point.

As long as your heads flow less than 230cfm, you should use a 2bbl to promote low rpm velocity.

i think im gonna run a cam and full exhaust so which would be better a 2 or 4?

Pretty sure the stock magnum heads flow very close to that number at .500 lift.

I haven't found a 4 bbl-EFI intake that had the thermastat housing located far enough to the passenger side so I could retain the stock A/C compressor mounting point.

I believe people are modifying the acc. bracket for it to fit. I haven't done it so I don't know where to say to cut it. I'm sure someone who has will chime in.

I had the old style 4bbl and all I had to do was trim the corner of the a/c bracket, piece of cake.

Maybe out of box R/T's The stock heads only flow about 190cfm on most benches. There is no way an m1 2bbl is restricting a stock longblock.
