Here's a couple of pics that Ryan posted over on Moparts. It's going on the break-in stand tomorrow at ShadyDell and then on the SF901 for power pulls on Monday. Chris is gonna go shoot some video for me, I'll post that up as soon as I get it. :)

The valve covers and fuel rails will get polished, and there still needs to be a coolant crossover on the passenger side of the intake, but other than that, this is pretty much how it's gonna look. I might do some powdercoating later, but right now I just want to get it in the truck and on the road.

Specs:

59* R3 (non-siamese)
Ohio Crank 4.10"
6.20" rod
Custom N20 JE's & Hellfire rings (4.060" bore)
11.2:1 compression
Dakota custom oil pan (SouthEast Performance)
CSR Reverse flow Magnum water pump
Custom Bullet Hyd Roller.... 262/270 @ .050" 108 LSA, .602"/.585"
Crane retrofit rollers
W5's flow 320/220 (ported someplace else years ago)
ICH 360-3R manifold
T&D 1.65/1.5 rockers

I can't wait to hear it! One thing to keep in mind tho, is that the dyno that it's going on typically reads low, always has. But it's the dyno that Ryan always uses, so it's a good tool for him to gauge the setup off of, since he can compare it to others that he's done. He predicted 552hp and 530tq on Moparts. Not as much as I was hoping for, but if it runs the number at the track, then I won't care what it puts down on the dyno

Those are still big numbers to me, mine makes less than half that hp at the wheels. :jester:

I was under the impression that they would bolt up to the W5's, but upon closer inspection, it doesn't look like they will, there's only two holes in the W5's for accessories. Aren't there three holes in Magnum heads?

Anyone have a picture of the end of a Magnum head?

Not sure what the reasoning is behind less duration but more lift for the intake. I'll ask Ryan about it when I pick up the engine next week. :)

Watch out when you drive it for the first time. When I installed the larger cam and lost my vacuum, I just about went thru the garage !!!NO Brakes!!!
I run a SSB elec vacuum booster now. I also switched the foot emergency/parking brake to a 11.5 Lokar hand brake.

Thinking of switching to manual brakes this year.

Congrats Dave. That's gonna be a killer hot rod NA... then when you add the juice it'll REALLY fly! I'm so friggin' jealous.

They aren't kidding on the brakes. That was half of the reason I switched to the Rhoads lifters. There's nothing quite like doing a burnout at the track and not being able to stop before going across the line to stage. It instills oh so much confidence when you start thinking about the fact that if the throttle ever hung you wouldn't be able to stop it without getting some vacuum built up first. Then of course, it wouldn't happen!

Yeah, I think I'll be needing to run a vac booster too. My only experience with manual brakes was in my brother's old Jeep CJ5, and that was a lil scary LOL But I'm sure there are better setups out there now.

Thanks Duner, should be a fun setup. I'm sure my neighbors are just gonna love me when they hear that thing through 3.5" duals LOL

Oh yeah, that's the other thing, ended up not using Danno's lifters. After digging into the block, Ryan decided not to machine it for the spider setup and stock lifters, and went with Crane retrofit lifters. So I'm sure I'll be affected by the lost vac even more.

I'll post some Pic soon, working a double tonight. 95% sure I'm going with manual brake--I will let you know how it feels! I have a 2000 with 4 wheel antilock brakes that does not work since I removed the PCM. I also need to do a linelock due to the Wilwood 4 disk rear brakes. So everything that related to the brakes is going to be removed. Strange claims the have a manual Master cylinder that will work on a #4000 truck. I think I'll keep my booster just in case.
PS I just bought a Safecraft Halon fire system today. You need one of those too:goodluck:

Best way is either by phone or on Moparts, but neither of those are sure fire. But when I send him a pm on Moparts I usually get an answer within a few days, week tops. Phone can be tough, just have to keep trying. Monday is probably the best day to call him, he tries to do all his phone calls then, so he can concentrate on work the rest of the week. If he's working on something, or talking to a customer there in the shop, he doesn't answer the phone.

Thanks Jon. I'm pretty damn happy :) Can't wait to see the vids.

wow.. 10s on motor! Wonder how much mph you'll pick up on the back half!
Think it will breach 130mph?

Good question, I'd guess maybe low 120's on the motor, probably over 130 on the bottle. I can't wait to get it to the track and find out

Yeah, pos didn't even crack 600hp :jester:

I won't get to enjoy it soon, but eventually. Still have to get custom headers/exhaust built, and get it tuned. Plus, as always, my work schedule isn't letting up at all, leaving next week for about a month. So I'll probably have it on the road end of May, hopefully early June at the latest.

Here is the video of Dave's engine. You will want to right-click the link, select "Save target as...", save it to your hard drive, and then view it from there. Grab a cup of coffee while you're at it unless you have good bandwidth - the video is 177MB in size, and if lots of people are downloading it simultaneously it may take awhile.

I asked Five9Dak to process the video once more to reduce the height/width but increase the fps/quality, this one is relatively pixellated but it still gets the point across. If another video comes through I'll post the link for that one as well, then add them to the multimedia section of the site as well.

After studing the video and the charts several times,,I think you have a bunch more laying on the table..Since Ryan did your dyno on a carb {don't know for sure what size} but it appeared to be a 850 and probably was not anular discharge..You will get at least another 200cfm out of your throttle body because you won't have all the junk that a carb does in the airstream..Couple that with better control on the mixture and you could have another 10% in HP and TQ avilable.. Either way you are defintly in for a E-ticket ride..Have fun Dave hope to catch up soon..

The 565 number was with a 1050 quick fuel dominator and no filter. It was over carbed a bit if anything, the motor doesnt move that much cfm when we had the metered inlet on it. The pull in the youtube video was with a filter on the 1050, the no filter run was an 850.

As far as the video is concerned, when dave picks up his motor i will give him all the video data. I had like 4 gigs worth. The shitty Mac's I had to use in the media lab only had a few formats to export in, and the one I picked seemed the most appropriate.

It's been a while, so here's a lil update.

I would have posted these pics sooner, but I couldn't find the cable for my camera. It's in the truck finally! It's off having headers and exhaust built right now. Once that's done I'll put the rest of it back together and take it have it tuned (SCT).

This is what I started with:

My custom CPS mount (R3's don't have a provision for the CPS):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v730/bad360rt/DSC03110.jpg

Purple's not really my color, but I guess I'll keep it. PI said it should stall around 4200 with this setup, we'll see.

I wish I had taken a before picture, there was about a 1/4" of grime and grease covering the whole trans tunnel (oil leaks and a leaky ps pump), but here it is after some simple green:

As soon as it's tuned I'll be running it at my local 1/8th mile, and then I'll be planning a trip to Richmond to hit up the 1/4. I'll let you know before I go.

Having custom headers and exhaust built for it, once that's done it has to get tuned.

Yeah, always good to make sure it's broken in and the rings are properly seated before you put boost to it.

Dave the install picture look great. Nice job getting the engine bay cleaned up nice and pretty.

On a side note, how did the solid motor mounts work out. I think I might have to go with something like them as my air hat is so close to the hood. Is the guy still sell them? or where they custom one off's.

Can't wait to see and hear your truck soon. I'm going to the track again this coming weekend for some testing.

Thanks Dave. It's taken longer than I wanted, but everything is done right, so it's worth it.

The solid mounts are great, they opened up some room for the headers and are 11lbs lighter than the stock mounts. Barry (Trueblue R/T on here) made 'em and can make you a set, just send him a message, he posted in this thread on the previous page.

Good luck at the track, let us know how it goes.
