Is the pipe plug threaded on the inside for the bolt or what? :D
Also dimensions?

Yes the pipe plug is threaded for the bolt. you install the plug into an EGR manifold and then the turtle will bolt in.

if you have a non EGR, just drill and tap the manifold for the bolt. (you may have to modify the bottom of the turtle as there is a guide bushing that sits inside the pipe plug.

I believe that the dimensions are as follows, but I'm not at home to measure.
1.5"h, 1.5"w, 3-3.5"L (the length is designed to cover the entire width of the manifold). this helps air be directed into all 8 runners instead of the inner 4.

most of the other ones are cones or pyramids and are only 1.5" at the base

Why are these things so high priced?

Axiom
04-10-2008, 01:45 AM
Because there are only like one or two suppliers. They can charge what they want because there's no place else to get them unless you make your own.

Aluminum is high. Some of them take a good shuck of it starting off to. Not being a big company making tons of them in one batch hurts to.

We have 1184 in use worldwide since 2001. Three sizes for the M1 2b. and two for the 4b. We have to buy 24 feet of 6061-6 at a time. Postage, which is included anywhere in North America, can cost as much as $16 to Alaska or Hawaii. They are produced one at a time on a lathe to an exacting profile by an ace machinist. We will never get rich on these.

we do- we do, Sorry I've just seen so many come in like this and then it turns out to be a fraud to seller or scam of some sort, and if the english is so bad he sure understood the american lingo? If it's a real deal I appoligize I'm just overly watchful!

Either he was using a language converter, or he doesn't know much english. I could see if he listed some off the wall vehicle that he was trying to buy a turtle for, or if he wanted to do some crazy check scheme to make the payment. But he listed a specific vehicle and a specific part to put the turtle into that not many would even know to ask about. And he offered to pay through PayPal, which I've never had a problem with.

It increases the velocity of the air moving through the manifold which ccreates a better vacuum signal to the map, increasing throttle response. Also smooths out the airflow into the runs with less turbulence on the flat bottom of the M1 plenum.

Like I said if it's a real deal I'm sorry- But I've sold stuff using paypal and had buyers do a charge back with their credit card company- the credit card company took the money from paypal and then paypal turned my account upside down and I lost without a chance and had to pay back paypal while being out of a good product!

That's why I always pay for shipping through UPS or USPS through PayPal with delivery confirmation. As long as you confirm the product was shipped and received, then PayPal will rule in your favor 99% of the time.

i appreciate you educating me...lol...another question, where exactly do you install the turtle on the M1? i read a previous reply regarding a bogging situation with the M1 without a turtle, i have a similar situation in 3rd, could these solve that problem?

I always use plenty of pictures and serial numbers if applicable and get reciepts/ emails with tracking info for all my shipments- all paypal requests from the buyer is a return tracking number and then they take back their funds-even when it's an empty box- paypal doesn't care whats in it as long as it's a tracking number going back to the seller. Thats how I got burned.

Salar Guy- Have to say I love my turtle- helped out tons!

yes- A turtle can fix some of that- most of the bogging happens around shift points and full throttle punches, without the turtle the air comes into the manifold and just sits there for a moment until it figures out where to go. The turtle keep that from happening by helping to direct the air into the differnt chambers. when you take off your throttle body and look down into the M-1 your going to see kind of a flat spot inbetween the four chambers. in the middle of that is where you drill a hole and mount the turtle. Hope this helps:biggthumpup:

No, the turtle will not help your third gear bogging problem, because that's not a problemm with the manifold, that's a problem with the transmission. You aren't really bogging, what is happening is the torque converter is locking up and causing the engine to bog down. Putting in the turtle isn't going to get rid of that. Only way is to either have your PCM or valve body in the tranny changed to eliminate the third gear TC lock up, or when doing WOT passes, like at the drag strip, continually hit the OD on/offf button on the shifter, which will keep the TC from locking up in thrid.

that is good info if thats what is happening- I ran my M-1 without a turtle for almost a year and had bogging issues- ever since I installed it the bogging has 90 percent decreased and my response is much better- now I'm wondering if I'll have better response with a 52mm TB vrs my 50mm or if I'll get a little more bog.
