I can provide any common or feasible custom cam grind for the 5.2/5.9 Magnum engine ground by Comp Cams.

Currently the price is $334.95 + shipping (typically $10-$15 in the US).

If interested you can send me a PM or email at Richard@hi-potek.com

What exactlly is feasible?

Not many people know that you can only go so far with a cam profile based on the Base Circle of the lobes of the cores available.

What are the limits? Duration max, lift max, LSA max

I ask just out of curiousity, Haven't heard of anyone having that issue here.

It was an issue at one time with some of the 50mm R3 cams. Mopar had the only stock of cores and the Base Circles of what they had wouldn't support Drag Race Profiles very well. Luckily places like LSM and Bullet do billets so you can get what ever you want.

While in contact with the sales manager of one of my suppliers (a former engine builder) in additon to Comp Cams tech, I was informed that not any lift, duration, and LSA combination can be ground. They didn’t tell me what was not possible. They just told me there are limits. Comp Cams has a data base of duration and lift profiles that they have found to work well. To put it simply, depending upon your intended purpose, combination…and vehicle weight, they will recommend a grind, juggling duration, lift, and LSA to fulfill that intended purpose. The cam profiles must be ground within the physical limits of the cam cores they have available for the 5.2/5.9 Magnum engine.

Just curious, have you ever done a cam on a mild engine. I recently rebuilt the top end of my truck because a nut went through my engine and cracked a head. I put it back to all stock because i didnt have the money to put nicer heads and all that good stuff on it. That shit is expensive! lol. I have a cold air intake and a exhaust basically. Is there a cam i can run that wont screw everything up?
Thanks bud,
Dan

Hey Dan,

Any cam is going to require valve springs. For stock heads, the Mopar springs and retainers can be used. The first cam will produce good torque, the second cam even better torque, and the third cam more spirited. You may be able to get away without computer modifications with the first cam. The second cam is questionable without computer modifications, and the third cam will require computer modifications.

1. Hydraulic Roller-Performance cam for 318. Good towing cam for 360. May require computer modifications.

206/210 .480/.512 112

800-5000 rpm

2. Hydraulic Roller-Strong towing cam for 360, performance cam for 318 with better exhaust and computer modifications

212/218 .480/.480 114 LSA

1000-5000 rpm

3. Hydraulic Roller-High performance cam for 360. Will require computer modifications.

210/220 .512/.512 112

900-5200 RPM Operating Range

Ohhh. ok. So I would have to rework my heads and do some cpu work. Im guessing sct tuner work. Im kind of new to this but im trying to learn. haha. Its a daily driver right now so i dont want to do anything to extreme. Im pretty close to paying it off so im going to focus on doing that before i do anything. I really appreciate your help!

Is the 3rd cam your basic 210x cam? That's the lift I got but not sure about the duration

He means a revised firing order- which isn't too popular in the mopar world.

Actually it is very popular with people that like to turn high rpms. 7000+

I know of a few that are running the 4-7 swap in small block mopars.

4 - 7 swap?Apparently this has been a somewhat popular Chevy thing. However, Comp Cams won't do it for the Dodge 5.2/5.9 Magnum.
