So i'm over at Redline yesterday and the guy comes in that owned the 2006Cadillac CTS-V that Redline had supercharged for him. Car dynoed close to 634 rwhp was just wicked, also had a complete suspension overhaul, electric water pump, billet aluminum rims etc etc list was endless, guy put over $30,000K additional into it.
Anyways here's the story.
Had it into a local dealership for a warranty repair for 2 days. He picks up the car and drives to a mall and when he comes out car is gone stolen on the spot. No broken glass no tire marks from a tow truck etc. He is convinced the dealership cut a custom key and someone followed him and thefted the car.
Oh and it gets better....
Insurance had to fork out $50,000 to GM to cover the loss of the car which was financed. Now the insurance company is suing him for the $50,000 stating they didnt know it was modified and hence would not have insured it if they had known.
He is counter suing for $30,000 for the cost of the mods stating his insurance broker knew it was modified.
Going to be interesting

My wife came across a guy trying to steal out truck awhile back. He had a huge key chain with 100 or so keys on it and he was trying them in the door. Funny thing was when I bought the truck the keys were missing. A buddy of mine that worked at the dealership said there was a group that would give out keys and addresses of the owners to the crooks and then they would go and steal the vehicles. Nice, huh....

Those cars probably have security keys as well, am I correct? The thieve is probably a little bit smarter then the every day car jacker. A good buddy of mine was into stealing cars a while back (hes out of it now,) He said they would get a hold of a ECM, get the correct key chip for it, then unlock the door with the cut key, switch out the ECMs, and start it right up.
