My stock speakers are blown out and just want to know what to put back in. Want to last and sound as good.

Look for a good set of 6.5" or 6.75" speakers. I have Infinity Kappas all the way around and love them.
Everyone on here will have an opinion on what's best. Just go to speaker city :) and listen to some on display. Buy the set you like the best.

Make sure they are 2 ohm or they won't be as loud if you have the infinity system.

Thses sound really good in my truck, YMMV! They aren't the cheapest, nor the most expensive.

Do the tweeters usually go bad? Weird thing is wired my truck and tune it i'm a electrician, work with controls all day and have no clue about audio and product out htere. I don't need 300 dollar speakers just ones that fit and work and sound as good as factory

Just bypass the factory amp -- I found out recently that it's only putting out 13W/channel.....bypass the falker and run the speakers off of the H/U....then it doesn't matter if the speakers are 2-ohm or 4-ohm.... :jester:

Why go through all that trouble, plus he would need to change his head unit. Instead of just getting a good 2 ohm speaker and replacing that. Hell even if you get a 4 ohm it will work, just not be as loud.

I have Alpine type G 6.5" in the doors and I think they sound great for the price, they were about $50, but if you hook up an aftermarket 2 or 3 way speaker, you should unhook your factory tweeter

He never said he was running the factory H/U....

I think we can all make the assumption that he had the stock head unit in there.
I am also basing it off of wanting a stock replacement.

After the fact, yes....we can make that assumption; but at the time, there was no indication. Besides, I have an aftermarket H/U and was looking for stock replacement speakers...

You can make the assumption before the fact also. Why? Because a stock replacement would be a 2 Ohm speaker. A 4 ohm is not a stock replacement.
Now if he said he wanted stock size speakers, that is a different story.

FWIW I replaced my blown out Infinities with some Polk db6501 components and they sound good enough to me.

Yea, I had a set of 4 ohm and a set of 2 ohm, you can tell the difference if you play with the fade, but when I even it out they sound good enough for me.

The impedance rating of the speakers has no bearing on what head unit is being used -- like I said, I'm using an aftermarket head unit with an otherwise stock Infiniti amp/speaker setup....and I replaced the the stock speakers with the exact same thing that came out.

Fair enough I see your point there, if you are not bypassing the stock amp and not using the speaker outputs from the radio. Never changed out the stock radio on the Dakota so I have no reference there. I just know that using a 2 ohm and a 4 ohm speaker there is a difference in volume because the amp sees a different load.
But for the sake of this argument a stock replacement would still be a 2 ohm speaker, as designed by infiniti and installed by dodge.

Right, but my point is that he never mentioned what head unit he was running back when he was asking for the speaker replacements....and just because he asked for stock speakers doesn't necessarily mean he's running the factory h/u. That's all I'm sayin'...lol.

Ah, to me stock means stock. We can agree to disagree.
