View Full Version : Put the R/T in her new home

Well, her new home for the next month or so LOL Closing on the new house on the 13th, and nothing is going in the garage until it is setup the way I want it, epoxy floor, new lighting, etc. I never did that with my last garage, always said I'd do it later, then I filled it up with junk and didn't want to pull everything out to do the floor. So this time I'm gonna do it first. The new garage is a lil smaller, 21x22 attached (old garage is 24x24 detached), but the ceiling is higher, so I can put a lift in there eventually. I'll have a garage build thread once I get started. For anyone looking for good garage ideas, check out http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/ Tons of good stuff in there.

If you can't tell in the pics, I had to pretty much jackknife the trailer to get it line up with the unit. Moving a non running vehicle with just a come along and a tow strap is a major pita.

Once the move is complete and the garage is ready, I can finally dedicate some serious time to the R/T. No more driving 700 miles every weekend, now I can spend my weekends as they were intended, in the garage. :D

Now is the time to buy, houses are cheap and interest rates are great, I got 4.5% with no points. If you have some time to wait, you can get a great deal on a short sale, but sometimes it can take months for it to go through.

Thanks Joe. Yup, sold the ramair hood and snagged one of the elusive cf cowl hoods, I can pick that sucker up with one hand. :D

It would probably look awesome, but it's never leaving the truck. LOL Unless of course, someone makes a cf shaker hood, that's the only thing I'd give this hood up for.

You planning on painting it or leave it natural? It's a shame to cover that beautiful work up, but the rice boys have made it almost necessary.

Good looking truck btw. I'm really tossing the idea of a RC around lately.

Thanks. Damn ricers ruin everything :jester: I'm gonna have it painted and leave the sides of the cowl showing.

It fits for now, but only because I took the nitrous plate out, gonna have to do some trimming to get it to fit. I've marked where it needs to be cut, I'll have it cut and reglassed when I get it painted.

Thanks Jim. It's going to be really nice to be able to get back into a normal routine, this past year has been insane. If all goes well I should still be able to make some passes this year. :goodluck:

I've been through a LOT of parts over the years. Most never got installed. I originally got that CF Cowl from Sean, sold it it to another member, who then sold it..errrr..traded it I believe to Dave. It exchanged hands a few times within a couple months time.

It'll be worth the wait...doing it right that is like you're doing. I think I still have you beat on the downtime overall though, believe it or not.

It's hard to believe my truck has been off the road for three years.

Here's the basic look I'm going for (not sure if I'm going to two tone the walls, if I do, I'll go gray on the bottom, white on the top, with a black/red stripe in the middle). But I'm definitely doing the soffitt storage that he built, love it. Same lights tho, and my epoxy floor will be gray instead of tan. But you get the idea. I wouldn't mind the Camaro either! LS7 with a fully updated suspension.

I got you both beat on down time.

Mine went down in Oct 2003 and never made it back up.

Got a PM from BondoBob last week saying it should be a roller by end of next month. We'll see? He's also got his 2 Dusters apart and running his business in front of me at the moment. SO?

I like that Tan Flooring. I've just been in too many Shops (aviation and automotive) that were white and / or grey. I want a lil bit of color.

Dave? What brand are you looking to use on the floor?

Nope, moving to Chesapeake, been working in Virginia beach for the last year, going back and forth on the weekends to see the family. Finally getting them moved out here.

Going with EpoxyMaster from Costco. $250 for the kit and it covers 480sqft (new garage is around 440sqft). 100% solids and has great reviews. Also, my brother has had it in his garage for the last three years with no problems.

It is very sad that it's still not running, but that's coming to an end soon. Now that the R/T and I will be living at the same address again, I can get back to work on her.

Want to know how you can tell if you have too much stuff? When you've already taken four truck loads of boxes and a 12ft trailer of stuff, and the rest of your stuff still doesn't fit in a 26ft truck! LOL I'm gonna have to at least do another 12ft trailer, possibly a small truck, gotta see what else we can get into the 26 footer tomorrow. I haven't even touched the garage yet, this is all just the house!

Might, get everything off the shelf, talking to K1 its not really worth the extra cost to go with a custom anything. Can get their crank, chevy rods and 4.070 pistons and be good to go.
