So it's time to park my gas hog, Jimmy.
Got a new daily to drive and I save $80 in insurance by keeping my Jimmy and putting my new car under "pleasure vehicle" like my Dakota is.
It's a 2003 Jetta 2.0 5 Speed.
Sunroof, heated seats, one scratch in paint and 2 wheels scuffed, which are the alloys. 90k on the clock but drives amazing and it's a V Dub so it's got plenty more miles to go, and I won't be driving it every day in the summer since I got my Dak and Bike.
I plan on small changes, like smoked or black headlights/tails/corners/fender lights. No systems yet, though that trunk is big, and no air, even though it's cheap through my work. ha. May do an intake, but not too much perf stuff. We'll see where this goes.
Here's pics off the dealers site, havent taken any myself, since I got it late last night and had to go to school then work this morning.

that dealer got a lil carried away with their dealer badging on the back decklid. I hope they come off easy. But looks like a pretty good gas saver.

My wife had that same car (same color even), except auto (she can't drive a stick), it was a good car, traded it for the Durango. Her family is all VW (her dad was a VW mech), they're great cars, you'll get a lot of miles out of it.

Most of the "dealer" badges comes off pretty easy---long as you're careful and take your time. Most are stick-on and can be removed with Goo-Gone or something similar. When I bought my wife's Murano, I told the dealer if they put any badges or plate frames with their logo on the car, the deal was off! They didn't like that, but they did comply.

I gotta go back to pick up my spare, so I am going to ask to take them off, or atleast one and see how they do it. I hear fishing line works. I didn't realize there was two til I was at the store last.

The maintenance on the Jetta gets tedious and expensive real quick. We have an 02 1.8T and stupid shit keeps going on, but that is my luck so I've learned to deal with it.
Vacumm hoses deteriorated, wheel bearings hum like 35 in tires, and the electronics are piss poor. The airbag light went off a couple weeks ago, but there is absolutely no reason as to why it did. We want to get rid of it and buy a Civic sedan.
It's become a love-hate relationship with that car, sadly.

$80 a month on insurance?? I know I am getting robbed by state farm but I checked around and only crappy companies were better. My truck is a certified garage dweller and I get no discount for it being a pleasure vehicle. Only a multi-car discount. WTF? Jetta looks nice. Those can be fun cars but, try as I may, I still mod the beater unfortunately. Doh. Stick for daily driver, yeah, I tried that for a few years...

I got State Farm as well. I only paid about $60/month on the R/T as a pleasure vehicle allowing 5K miles a year. It was more than I pay on the Box, that I drive daily, and use it for a business. It's gay, like gas prices!
On a side note, did you ever install that brake distribution deal for your Viper brakes? If so, does it help? And where would one go to get one?

No of course not. I bought the replacement brake line piece from the dealer and I have the proper flare kit that Grimy said to buy. I picked up some brake line to practice on from Joey's dad and after I get it down I will go at it. Mine is a Baer prop valve. The inlet and outlet ports are not inline so somehow I have to bend the factory line which is in a retarded Z shape after I cut it. I will probably hack up the old one and use the new piece as a backup. ISO bubble flare kit metric

My two friends with VW's have had many problems with them. Both of them have had numerous sensor issues. Cars are constantly lighting up something on the dashboard.

Oh I see, I didn't know it had to be fabbed in so to speak. So you just got the block from Baer?

Basically. It comes with some fittings but you have to cut the line in between the output of the master cylinder and the input of the ABS or it won't really work. Here is a pic (http://www.baer.com/products/support/index.php), upper right hand corner. Its made mostly out aluminum, nice piece. The fittings go over the cut line then you flare it and thread them in. If you look at the pic you can see IN and OUT marks, they are not directly across from each other but the line in the truck is obviously. So I need to bend them to fit but still be parallel to those ports. Sorry if this is over your head, OH, that was too easy. HEHE! There is only about 4" (there I go again) for the valve to work in so bending the line up over and back down is a real PITA.

Is that round button a dial or? I'm not really sure what they do, but my father in law upgraded the brakes on his Nash and was looking into one of these for better braking.

Lol, its not a barney rubble button or anything. Its basically a flow restriction valve. Dial it in for less pressure out back like I will use it for. Generally used to limit flow from front to back but it could be used however you wanted on a single channel part of a system. Its a pretty fine adjustment. So its easy to dial in the right amount. I can't lockup my fronts on the street so I can't wait to see how the full Viper setup works when plumbed correctly. Stupid rear ABS.

Unfortunately no. I can't say the same about the weekend though! Hah, I got dragged to a rave downtown, crazy $hit. Anyway, just been wicked busy at work and the house. Been wasting time and mostly money on some gun forum. I seem to go thru phases of high interest in one hobby and then bounce to the next one. Go figure. I had repairing some wheels for the Max as my next project but that brake thing will be of more use. Also need to get those drop hangers in so it will look schweet with new tires and correct wheels on all 4. What you been up to holicious?

Not a whole lot. Trying to work with this friggin' weather. We went from winter/snow straight to spring showers! Amy's grandma passed away Friday, so we've been dealing with that, she's taking it quite well, except for all the BS now that Granny is gone, her family is driving her nuts. Damon Blumenstien is in town for the week, Jamie and I met up with him last night for dinner, then we had him scared shitless on the way back to his hotel! LOL You know how we are! :jester:

Just take him off the kiddie rides and its easy. I don't need a mental picture of the 3 of you out in public. Did you guys get the child discount? lol!
