trying to figure this out.. it only seems to happen when the tires break loose.. either its bouncing off the limiter or its blowing out the spark(a/f doesnt change much) my plugs are 1 step colder gaped at .035 Stock ignition. I'm still working on the tune, but its still a little rich..

what do you guys think??

btw SCT, vortech 10-11#'s

sean said 6300 than i asked him to move it to 7000(which is where i thought it was to begin with) not sure if he changed it.( he might have included it with his last tune but that was to pull fuel, I'll have to ask to be sure)

I dont even know where my rpm is at that point. my eyes are glued to my wideband gauge.. i need to have someone ridding shotgun

It's easy to hit 6300 spinning your tires, I light up my 6000 shift light everytime doing a burnout, & bounce off my 6400 MSD pill.

I was having the same problem, he finally bumped it up to 8K.

It sounds like it is blowing the flame out - try to swap coils, your coil could be trying to take a poop.

Also you may want to try a snout nose plug for a boosted application and see if that helps you - it did wonders for me on both my vortech red rt and my paxton on the white truck. BKR6E in an NGK V-Power is what I lived by. I had best results at .038 gap - the .035 seemed to be too tight for me. I got better fuel economy and the smaller gap seemed to decrease the burn efficiency as my HP numbers picked up by resetting the gap on the dyno.

Just my experiences from past, it didnt seem to matter as much with a stock cam but as you started getting more duration it seemed to respond much better to a wider gap.

**DISCLAIMER*** I never ran stock ignition so I dont know if that is an issue or not, all my numbers were done on a digital 6 ignition and a blaser SS coil.

sean did forget to raise my limiter.. I'll load that tune today...

Todd, I am running the v-power zfr6f-11. I guess my next mod is a msd ignition.. and a full return setup( fuel drops from 45psi to about 39 at full boost..

Gap tighter, pull a few tenths of AFR out of it.

you may want to pick up a msd box. I have no issues with my msd 6AL2 and stock coil. I have my 3923s gapped at .038.

I run 3923's at .030. My breaking down issue is the Accel Dual Sync distributor which i am changing out before I run later this year.

are you just replacing it or going with something different? What happened to it?

anybody know the part # for the piece that gets rid of the " soft" code??

They call it a tach adapter. Why do you need one though? I've never had a problem passing OBDII emissions with two different trucks that had the code.

We are getting an interfering signal with the DFI and the Accel distributor. Nothing wrong with distributor itself so it will go up for sale. Switching to an MSD distributor and will put a kit on to pick up the crank position off the flywheel instead to eliminate the interference.

I didn't realise you didn't have an MSD. Hopefully that cleans it up for you.

The AFR you cited in the PM you sent me earlier is REALLY hard to light off.

lol. dont just yet.. I will have mine installed the day it show up..(tues or wed.) msd6al2,plugs, napa cap and rotor.. I honestly think I fouled the fuck out of my plugs.. tomorrow I'm gonna swap out the v-powers(fouled??) for some autolites I have laying around.. I have a feeling it will be better.

fwiw I fried the first 2-bar.. and cranked for a while.(showed the right voltage, but maybe I was poking hard enough.) I has to half throttle it to start it.. 9s a/f my shop was smoked out.. (i change the oil right away..lol)
when i re gaped the plugs to .032 they were super black(porcelain)

the last couple of tunes were rich at cold crank.. so now the latest tune has 75% pulled at idle. hopefull it will work.

oyeah almost forgot.. add in a full return system.. 60#er's, 6krpm, 12#'s.. fuel pressure drops to 39 (base is 55 with 255in tank and stock regulator)

BryanRT360

mine mostly with a little help.. I email Chris(pie) he said he rather tune 60's and Chris O convinced me..

also the 42's i had were ev1..

I almost started a new thread/checklist type dealio tonight but decided I'd just keep an eye on this thread instead. :jester: So far I've got msd/cap/rotor/oil pan/oil pump and some fuel system parts on my list.

I'm interested in seeing how long your bottom end lasts with that much boost. We should definitely make a fall Cecil happen this year, too.

You might want to pick up a few sets of plugs while you're out, haha. You'll get real good at changing them while the tune is still fat.

it not that bad.. its just rich at cold crank till the o2's take over.. warm idle and crusing jumps from 14.4-15.2. its just a little rich under load..

I just ordered remflex gaskets for my headers and collectors, now I just need Don's secret hardware reciepe for the collectors and I can be just like the Jersey boys.

Bwhahaha. Is that when he's running his drag or street trim? lol...

I prefer the cheapo Spectre collector gaskets from Pepboys. They work the best out of copper, aluminum, cometic, mr gasket, paper w/RTV, etc. $7/pair is hard to beat.

Go to a different place, soft code should still pass plug in. Mine passes with the MSD code. But I guess you already bought it.
