Run the solid, or they won't be as effective and might tear the other ones up.

I used a grass yard, rubber mallet, an lots of WD-40 -lol
And a socket works perfect between the mallet/bushing.

I managed to get one aluminum sleeve in. The one on the other leaf spring is in halfway but won't go in anymore. I"m hitting it as hard as I can without bending it.

There's grease all over the eyelet so I don't see the problem, I have a feeling this eyelet is tighter than the other.

Try hitting it in a circular motion. Or top, bottom, top, bottom, left, right, left...etc.
It's not about the pounding, more about the motion of your swing:nana:

correct. There may have been a burr or dirt inide the steel sleeve though and if that's the case most likely the alum. isn't coming back out. Just keep the heat away from the aluminum.

ddrango
07-17-2010, 05:59 PM
I'll try that today, the hitting motion. And the leaf springs are brand new so there is no dirt anywhere. I do feel like this second one is tighter. But we'll see I'll try it out.

Ok so the hitting motion didn't work, but my home made puller did. What a PITA to get it in. Now my only concearn is that why was one side easier than the other? I spoke to Andrew (from Syracuse) last night and he said his friend squeezed the eyelets shut some more. How do I do this?

I used a hydraulic press to do mine when installing my Slide-A-Links. One may have been easier than the other due to the angle that you were driving them in. However there can be some tolorance differences with the leafs. If they're both in there snugly you should be okay. Otherwise, to close the eyelet a little you will probably have to remove the aluminum bushing. I'd be carefulL about trying to close it; you don't want to damage the leaf.

The other one is snug, just wondering why it was 10x easier to go in, I used my hand and a rubber mallet lightly. The other side couldnt go in with me hitting it as hard as I could with the rubber mallet and a peice of wood.

I finally got it in with my home made puller though.

Mine were both a PITA. :jerkit:
But patience, wd-40, socket, and motion made it possible for my bushings.
