What are the options for replacing the stock speakers with the correct 2 ohm units? I don't want to use the factory units again or convert to 4 ohm speakers if I don't have too. Any help appreciated.

Just use any good aftermarket 4 ohm speaker. Thousands of other Dakota owners have.

hey while we are on the subject what are the size of our speakers in front and back in a 99 CC? The tunes sound like hell in my truck. Guess all my speakers got dry rotted since the truck sat up for so long. Oh don't know if it matters but got the whole infinity package in the truck..

Does anybody know of any good 6.5's with low end to them?

There are some great 6.5 components but you will need a large amp to push them.I won't even list some of them because there like $300+ a pair and again you need some beef behind them.Otherwise for stock replacement, hit your local hi-fi shop see what they got and shop around.

I had some kickers in my 2001 sport and they had no bottom end whatsoever. Is it possible to put a 6X9 in the rear with some cutting of course.

I'm sure you can make it fit.But i don't know if it true (and i had a hard time believing it myself) but i was told by a stereo guru guy that there is no difference in a 6 inch or 6x9 woofer. He said that the smaller dim. always puts the limit on the woofer. So in his theory a 6inch and 6x9 are the same.?????

I looked on crutchfield and it says the polk db650's are discontinued and the replacement was the polk db651s. When i go to check out it says those speakers will not fit my vehicle. I still have the factory head unit in my 2000 with the stock infinity speakers still (w/ both blown door speakers) will the 651's work with my stock head unit and i don't want to add another amp. This will be my grad money.

That's exactly how I'm running now. Stock Infinity head and amp, with the Polk Speakers. Just be carful if you choose the compoment ones. The tweeters are VERY PRESENT, if you know what I mean. I have the treble turned down to -4 , on the deck, at this point. Circuit city still has tons of these in stock, both types.

The speakers in our trucks are 6 3/4 inches. The old Polk db650's were available in both 6.5 and 6.75 inch diameters. The new db651 may not be available in 6.75 inch diameter. Adapter rings will work just fine mounting the 6.5 inch speakers in our speaker openings.

Thank you for all the info. I will be ordering a set of the 651's in about a week or so. I think i'm going to order them from crutchfield so they will include the adapter rings and the wiring adapter. Thanks again

I have polk 6.5 momo's in the front and 6x9 momo's in the rear and polk tweeters. I had to do a little cutting but I think it was worth it. The 6x9's put out quite a bit more base then the 6.5's.

No! Those do not look like Polk db650's. My db650's are round, they do not have the squared off corners and do not have cloth covers. The third speaker in the ad looks like a different speaker from the other 2.
The seller has ZERO selling feedback and only 1 buying feedback.

Nolan is right. The boxes 7 Grills look correct. But the speakers are probably the stockers that were replaced by the real DB650s. That's a scam ad

Thats exactly what i thought. I didn't think they looked like them. It has the right box and grills but i have never seen those with fabric over them. I agree the third looks different than the other two also. Thanks guys.

What did you use to cut the inner cab? A Dremel tool or what?

I just got done installing Kicker KS693 6''X9'' 3 ways in the back of my club cab. They sound really good even with the factory head unit and no extra amp. Now I need to get the factory speakers out of the front.

does anyone know what the pos/neg wires are for all the spkrs? since we have the tweeters in our doors up near the mirror, I want to be able to hook everything up properly.
I just bought the Polk 6.5's for the fronts, the component ones. That way I can have the tweeter in the stock location, and still be able to use the crossover (possibly), along with the rest of the spkrs f/r
Thanks

if you still have the stock plugs on the speakers- cut them off leaving about 3 inches leaving them connected to the speakers- then take a 9volt batter and touch the leads- pay attention to where the + is on the battery- when you touch the wires watch for the speaker to push out- if it pushes out then whatever wire is touching the + on the battery is your positive side- if it sucks in then the polarity is reveresed which means just swap leads. Hope this helps- this is a sure fire way to know
