Any turners out there that use regular fuel? Is the Mopar premuim fuel only? With the gas prices and being a daily driver I would like to still use regular fuel.

i was told to use premium with the m1 flash i got from bg. but i'm sure there are people that run regular.

I run regular grade all the time on my M-1 flash, but If I'm racing or spraying I run preminum. I think Alan runs a MP PCM, 89 octane and a 150 shot, But that guys crazy:jester:

i haven't used 87 octane since 2005, when i began running the superchips performance reprogram. except when on road trips, i only drive enough to require a weekly fill up

Superchips and I think Hypertech too have different settings for different octane...so you can run reg gas

I have a high performance computer from Dodge and I rotate fill-ups with regular then when my tanks goes to half way I fill it the next time with premium. That way I always have at least 91 octane. I'm in Chicago Subs and gas is a pain in the Ass. $3.65 last last time I filled it.

I have been running regular old 87 octane in my 408 R/T, ever since gas got near $3 per gallon. I even ran an 11.64 on nitrous with 87, without pulling any timing. We even run regular 87 in the wifes turbo bug, which "requires" premium.

I say run 87 and never look back. It'll be fine.

I agree. I'm crazy as a shithouse mouse, but I don't buy that premium gas bullshit.

But most everyone runs a colder plug. At least go a range or two colder. If you want to be ever safer, run some seafoam through it occassionally or even add an inline air/water separator in the pcv line to keep oil out of the intake charge. Oil causes deposits, which can cause hot spots and detonation. That's what I do on 87 anyway with supposed to be 3-4 degrees advance across the board with the crankshaft position sensor slotted. I eventually plan on getting a flash or Mopar pcm when money comes my way. Good torque gain for the money ($0) nonetheless.

Do you have any pictures of that air/water separator? Maybe a link to where I can buy one too?

I've been running 89 in my truck with the Moper PCM for years. I did have some pretty bad detonation while in FL racing at Emerald Coast in Pensacola so I put a couple gallons of leaded 112 in the tank. As far as the gas prices, if you do the math, the difference per tank isn't that much. 10 cents a gallon and you fill up with 16 gallons is only $1.60. Is the possibility of damaging your motor worth the $2 a tank you save running 87?? I sat 89 octane is on the line safe, and 87 is just pushing it too much on a performance tune, especially with a modified motor.

With the Mopar PCM. I actually got a mile to the gallon better running 91 octane on the highway. That was switching from 89, but all I have is the PCM and a 52mm TB.

That's interesting, because I notice almost exactly the opposite, with getting better fuel mileage running 89 than 91. And I also got better mileage running 89 with the Mopar PCM, than I did running 87 with the stock PCM.

Maybe I will have to try it again. The 89 might have been cheap gas. Around here I can only get Shell or Speedway for 91.

I can get away running 89-91 only if its below 70`.If i'm running my A/C forget it,I'm lucky if it doesn't ping at all running 93.

Do you have any pictures of that air/water separator? Maybe a link to where I can buy one too? It's not fancy. Just go to Home Depot and look at the small air/water separators for air compressor lines. I get about a tablespoon of oil, water (mainly in winter) every week or two. It's been doing this job for almost 2 years now. I paid around $15 for the parts I think.

I'll look into that, thanks for the tip!

Just wasn't sure since it had "gen 1", thought maybe it might be discontinued with a gen II out. Thanks :)
