im mouting my battery box... and with clearances tight- i could really use the space the posts take up. i know optima claims they can me mounted in "almost any position". i THINK the only way you cant mount one is upside down... but am curious about sideways....

???

the box project is going well... its less of a box and more of a tray mounted to the frame. i had to cut out one of the rolled stampings next to the frame that's part of the spare carrier, and get tricky with some angle iron and square tubing.. i basically had to box in the open side of the frame.

i think i can make the whole setup legal for tech inspection by just bolting the battery to the frame with some 1/4" steel and 3/8" bolts, in addition to the tray- we'll see when i get that far. im going a littttle overboard with bracing and bracketry-- that fuckin battery weighs a ton!

i was under the impression that the Optima's could be mounted any way you could think of.

will do. i took off work monday and tuesday to tie up all my projects as much as possible. converter, slide-a-links, battery box... that should be about it. i got tired of crawling under and out from the truck- so i quit for the day. 6 hours is good enough for me.
